I dont go out much nowadays esp in the heat but I am damn sure you can get one for under rs. 2000. Most of the ones available in Mumbai are Chinese or Taiwanese. I saw something called a YF20 with a analog display they had some other models with digital displays too.

You just woke me from a slumber, totally rusty now.

Havn’t tried these but you can check these out:
Demos are available for download.
PIANETA MUSICA: musica e informatica su misura!
PIANETA MUSICA: musica e informatica su misura!
EAW: Software > Smaart Acoustic Tools
Digital Sound Level Meter

Also few years back seen some serial/usb interface based spectrum analyzer on display in Pragati Maidan from a Taiwanese manufacturer costing @Rs4800/- It had a feature to measure SPL, not sure on there availability in India.

Hope this helps.

hi,

can you suggest a mic for this? i have seen some softwares which calibrate your sound card and mic(you need a mic with calibration data i.e. response at different frequencies)

cheers
