Sony MEX-BT5000 Bluetooth Stereo

hi,
i am quite new in teambhp forum.
trying my best not to do anything against forum rules.
read all the guidelines etc. and now i am posting my first thread, so please sort out the problems, if any, in relation to the format of posting and wrong section etc.

while surfing the net, i found this new stereo for truly mobile people, who are also in with latest gadgets!

Sony MEX-BT5000 Bluetooth Stereo

The MEX-BT5000 car audio head unit is designed for the truly mobile lifestyle. The first Sony head unit with Bluetooth® wireless technology, it automatically links to any Bluetooth® mobile phone and provides handsfree calls with crystal clear sound. Phone book data from the handset also appears on the BT5000’s high-visibility screen, so you can make and receive calls during a journey without even taking your phone out of your pocket. Support for the Bluetooth® OPP (Object Push Protocol) also allows the wireless transfer of up to fifty phone book contacts to the head unit itself.

For further details pls check the following link:

http://www.sony-europe.com/view/View...sReleaseDetail

although it might not be available in India in near future, but the purpose of this thread was just to bring it to the notice of teambhpians.
thanx.

Great... Another one on the BT bandwagon... Sony has just joined the party, cuz Pioneer launched their P70BT in the UK unit last summer. Its something like the 7750 we get here except it has Bluetooth built-in.

Pioneer's 2006 lineup also sees 2 (or was it 3) HUs get the BT treatment. I think its a good move seeing that Car Bluetooth handsfree kits cost around $100+ otherwise... and still lack the integration that these sets offer. With BT chip prices around 1$ now, we should see this become as common as MP3.

Well it means I could be blissfully doing 80kmph halfway into 'Private Investigations' and the song would automatically be muted / attentuated / paused so that I could tell some jerk I dont want their credit card / loan / hotel membership. But of course, I can choose not to 'pair' my phone to the HU.

While us 'audiophiles' may sneer at such units for the Radio Comms could cause noise issues... overall, I think it would mean safer driving cuz whatever the law may say or do, people will not give up talking on their phones while driving. A handsfree makes for safer driving.

I am single. Just imagine the wift/GF blasting you and you have a subwoofer in the boot. That will be like a missile landing on your head.

Then Sma would hate it. His beloved Dolphins will be replaced by MMS clips of movie stars in compromising positions.

Are any BHPians already using BT HUs? It will be nice, if you post the model, year of purchase and price information, so that it will be useful for those willing to invest in a HU now.
