Pioneer DEH P920R

Hi,

A friend is trying to get rid of Pioneer Premier P920R head unit. Want to know from the gurus on how the head unit. Only downside I see is that it plays only Audio CD, but thru the IP bus I can hook up an iPod or aux-in. Hows this HU in terms of SQ. Its got DSP and auto eq. Also how does this compare with the SQ with P80RSII (I know there is a decade difference on manufacturing date). This HU is Made in Japan and of year 2000. The pre outs are 6.5v which is near to Exclipse 7200 mkII. Let me know your thoughts and tell me whats the reasonable price that I can pay for it.

Re: Pioneer DEH P920R

I am not an audio guru , but my take would be to go for a HU with an inbuilt USB port. I have tried hooking up Aux cables to my MP3 player and none have been a success. You always get the odd hiss or line sounds since the connections get loose at some point.

Yes, but it has 6.5 volts pre outs and i dont mind burning audio cds or take the USB adapter. Not sure if it will work or not. I am tempted as its Made in Japan and getting it for 3K.

Re: Pioneer DEH P920R

I dont know much about preouts etc but my 7 yr kenwood mp4026g is skipping cds now so I need to replace . What is ur friends reason to replace ? If unit skipping then what is the point . An 11 yr player will surely have a weak lens . IMO not worth it . Buy a pioneer 149 @ 3800 . PS I open my kenwood and clean lens regularly (once in 6 mts) but the player still skips ;-(
