Heyyy! A woofer and an amp was never the original plan. :p
Anyway, now I got a great idea. Use a great 4" component, or better still, rip open the door panels and make way for a nice 6" comp with some spacer rings.
Next (now this may sound cheesy, but it'll work) have a speaker guy take out the tweeter posts from both 6x9s and replace them with some dust caps instead. Connect both terminals of the 6x9s in parallel to the rear output of the head unit in bridged mode. The manual will show you how to. Look in the Direct Sub Drive (DSD) section. Follow the instruction to set the HU to "Rear Speakers - Sub" from "Rear Speakers - Full" which is the default. And voila, you have a 2-ohm sub with the cone area equivalent of approximately two 8" subwoofers and you save the money you would've spent on an amp. The HU delivers about 50 W rms when connected like this. You could leave the tweeters on the 6x9 if you want to avoid the surgical procedure, but how functional are ovaries on a 80yr old woman?
I agree with bass&trouble fully with this setup
Yes.. indeed its a very good suggestion. Making fullest use of every resource.
