Navin, the Beymas are also worth considering I think. Remember the discussion about Beyma in diyaudio.com.
greatmana2000, thanks for reminding me. Where do you get them and how much did the 12 inch cost you? Do they give the TS parameters with the drivers?

I have beyma 12 " and i can tell you they are excellent .vivek ,since you happen to have some experience with electronics ,i wud suggest that you try looking for beyma subs . |
I think these are only available in chennai however i have not looked hard enough in mumbai to tell for sure.
still can you post some specs.
hi guys ,
yes ,the beymas are avaliable in chennai . I dont know abt mumbai . if you guys can mail me your address i would be glad to send you catalogues and those catalogues have t/s specs as well . stil ,you could also visit the website for t/s specs and box designs . the car components arent avaliable as of yet.
Another option would be the dainty subs ,cost around 900 for a 12' and i can tell you they are anyday better than bolton and much better suited for car use . The importer is known to me in chennai ,may be i can ask him for the T/S specs if you guys are interested .
But the Peerless India or Beyma subwoofer drivers are surely better than the Dainty.
greatmana2000, how much did the 12 inch subwoofer driver cost you? And this is for my home theatre subwoofer.
yes ,i do agree that perless or beyma would certainly be better ,but if you are on a shoe string budget ,i guess the dainty is a darling .
http://car.beyma.com/ this is the link i found for beyma car components .
If you are going to use at home ,i suggest you get a powerful amplifier so that the sub can be pleasing .
3K for that sub is pretty good. is it available now? Whom do I contact to get the prices and models?
Navin, check the parameters in the link he has posted.
I know a guy called Jeetu Bhai who sells Peerless India drivers in Bombay. I could give his contact info if desired.
Navin, see the parameters of the Beyma in post 80 and let me know if it is worth trying.

Mr Dilip stocks only one 10 and one 12 inch model. He was not sure of the model numbers. He said he would get back to me. What next? Should I just use the JBL car subs?
Vivek, what about the Peerless sub you found earlier. atleast it got down to the 30s. see post 68. it seems to be the most promising of th drivers we have run through.
As I said Mr Dilip is not sure which one he has. He said he would call me back today but he has not. I am going crazy.
The Bolton 20SBW22 8 inchers have an fs of 31Hz according to the company sheet. I got 29.66Hz.
Vivek, if it has a Fs of around 30hz what is the Vas and Qts you need these 3 parameters to tell how low it can go in a given box.
Qts of the Bolton is 0.56. I vaguely remember the Vas being around 67L. But two drivers in a 40L box seemed kind of okay.
However, even if it goes quite low, it necessarily may not mean good sound, right?
