Pioneer Regular Vs Premier

Friends

For the last three days I have been trying to figure out the difference between the Pioneer's Premium vs regular series of Head units...

But for a TWO year Guaranteee on the premium series I am have not been able to discern any other difference.

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...6_4035,00.html

For instrance please look up these models -- DEH-P9600MP Vs DEH-P960MP and pls tell me how is it different

In the UAE the premium range DONT EXIST at all!!.. the number's all have an additional "50" to it .. Even the photo of the DEH P 9650MP has the "PIONEER" tag on the face place where the other site this place had the "PREMIER" tag http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...496605,00.html

http://www.pioneer-uae.com/pioneerAd...x?pid=37&cid=1

Someone please explain all and set this confusion to rest!!

Well premier and pioneer are basically the HUs manufactured by the same company however branded with different names based on which part of the world they are sold .. The premier units atleast a few have slightly higher pre-out voltages ..

No case to worry , i think u can just go ahead and pick up any one of them .. They all are the same basically ..

No wonder that the HU's I see here have that '50' in it. I google and I cant find teh addon '50' stuff ones.

Anybody heard about the DVD6250 ( I think) or DVD6X50 HU from Pio? I was quoted 16K for it.

The premier ones have 6.5 volt outputs n the normal ones have 2.5volt outputs(btw the high end models like 8650 have 6.5v)

The more the output the easier it is to drive the amps(without distortion).

I beleive sony and pioneer r making HU with preamp voltage >4 recently but alpine [2005 range] had only one model i.e.9855,with preamp voltage 4v.All other models have just 2v preamp volt.Even 2006 models have just 2v preamp voltage.
And general view is that alpines still sound best.

Techinally and logically all HU with with higher pre amp vol should sound better than with low volt output but i think its more dependent on choosing right material to make HU.

So acc. to make one sony/pio/other HU model with higher preamp volt may sound better than other models from same manufacturer with lower volt but not necessarily better than other manufacturer with lower volt.

I jst said about driving the amps in regular vs premier.

but if u look at other parameters there r many like decoder used, snr, dsp, etc etc.. Preamp o/p is jst one among many.

Well said RSJ. I would like to add that most HUs mfrs tend to advertise optimistic preamp voltage. Most HUs dont measure up to their advertised levels.

I dont thnk they are THAT adventureous but yes a output rated at 6.5V can really be a 4V out. bad enough.
