Maybe off topic, but has anyone ever opened up a SD series amplifier? There is a lot of unused space inside. So conversely, the shell of the amplifier is very oversized for the 'masala' it contains. Wonder why Sony does this...maybe it's to fool a buyer into visually believing that the amp is powerful. The Class Ds sure dont need heat sinks that expansive.

They are available with Bill & Warranty...its unfair to compair them with the amps available in the gray market.

If you open up amps in the similar price range they will be more or less same from the inside. The worthwhile amps with good design and quality components are in the range of 20K.

There are expensive amps I have seen like Audiobahn 2300HCT which have free space equivalent to football field inside. They are made just big for people who want to buy the stuff with the mind set "Bigger the better" coupled with Bling

lhey guys maybe this is to ensure that the components are not cramped into some part of teh car that ahs no breathing room. having space inide the amp box ensures that even if the amp is cramped into a small space there will be some room for heat dissapation.

System for my Aveo ! ! !

Hi guys,

Well I have installed Pioneer 6850 HU.... I have Kenwood 6" at the rear.... I have a budget constraint and thus have some queries...

1. Do I need to run the JBL components on Amplifier or can I even run them from my HU.

2. Will the Sub-woofer give an impact even at lower levels, if I place it in my boot. I will be using JBL 1200T.

3. Is the following combination fine
Front: 5.25" JBL 506Ce Components (165W)
Rear: 6" kenwood (80W)
Amplifier: Sony 554zr (4 Channel)
Sub-Woofer: JB CS1200T....

I hope you guyz will help me out as usual......Cool_Sizzlers
