given the huge Mms and Qms and the high (but not so huge) Qts (in fact Qms is so high that Qts=Qes!) I dont see how to make a practical boss reflex box with this woofer. However I am willing to admit I could be wrong (If I had 1 ruppee for everytime I was wrong I'd be a millionaire). In a 40-50 liter sealed box expect an F3 of about 42Hz. however you can build a BOOM-BOX bass reflex woofer with this too (BB4 alignment). in a 40 liter box with a very long port. I would not be an acceptable sound. However what you can try is build a 40 liter box. see how it sounds. then install a port (easy way is to build an extra side wall with a port attached and switch side walls). I would look at a port that is about 3-4" dia and 12-16" long. Then means that the box must have atleast one dimension that is 3-4" more than the length of the port. However I feel the only practical solution is a sealed box. I'd ask the Guru (Sam, JB, B&T, Gunbir etc...) what their opinion is though. Last edited by navin : 15th April 2006 at 09:27.

| ![]() What the manual says is not rigid. You need to experiment with box sizes, different alignments and port tuning. The wise thing to do is to build a bix box (only limited by the room in your car) and you can always reduce internal volume by filling it up. This way you can experiment tilll you find the sound you want. If you build too small a box, you obviously cannot enlarge it later. Do your homework well before you cut any wood and you will end up with a good result. We are all there to help you. Last edited by Vivekphadnis : 16th April 2006 at 20:39. |

I would really like to request all of you ICEers to listen to your ears. I dont subscribe to any magazines or such and if I do read them on occasion I have no reason to believe what they say. I have often found that I dont particularly care for audio components recommended by many respectible magazines and even reviewers. Magazines and reviewers not only have different tastes and rooms but are also led by contraints some moral some technical and some political. You and I are not. We are spening our hard earned money to reporouce music we like to produce what we consider a pleasureable experience. It is that SIMPLE. Last edited by navin : 17th April 2006 at 10:20.
