Re: World's biggest subwoofer - 34" 10,000 watts! In an Indian Fiat Punto

Is this for real? And I believe this is at Haresh Jethwani's shop in Chennai? Are these guys competing for some Limca record of sorts? Because this is definitely a no-go for daily use/drive.

Curious to know the amp driving this, as well as the price of the sub!

IMO it is not a woofer in a hatchback, it is a hatchback around a woofer.

There also is need of warning sign on the dash board -"Caution - Sudden thrust can dislocate your shoulders".

Now I know how to get rid of the irritating tourist vehicles constantly honking and flash. Simply turn up the music.

The car or the subwoofers? For a moment I thought it went just I had predicted earlier - you driving along GT Road and parts falling by the wayside.

LOL.. I had dismantled the monster one year back. The car could not take the pressure as it was more than 6 year old. So planning a new one very soon will update !!!

I was thinking if he has this for a Punto, God only knows what he will get if he ever upgrades to a Safari or XUV.
Hope he never buys a bus.

Contrary to what people think, a 34" subwoofer wont actually be louder just because of its size. A good 12" will go louder than it without much effort. Its an impractical size for an automobile.

Google-heads would find a 60" subwoofer mabe by MTX I think. It was impractical for just about any install for obvious reasons.

Many many eons ago EV made a 30" subwoofer that they demoed at a Detroit CES using the AC mains (110V). That means 1500W (at 8 ohms) and the speaker just made a 50hz hum. They had to turn it off in a few seconds becuase other exhibhitors complained.

For a car 12-15" is about the most reasonable option. Multiple (2-4) smaller subs have advantages over a single large sub but that is a whole different topic.

I think he should take this thing to the Bonneville Salt Flats. I'm fairly certain several records would be broken. How about a standing quarter mile in 3 seconds? One boom should do it.

The Cadence site mentions it has 10000 watts as peak output. Not much information in there about the sub except for freq response. Much depends on how it is tuned, on the amp and the enclosure. However going by the looks, it may look fascinating for some.
I agree with B&T a good single or dual sub setup with the right amplifier and electrical can go much louder than a single sub presented here.

Also would anything be visible in the rear mirror?
