Hi ,

With the help of Sam :) , I have been able to get in touch with the newly-appointed distributor for JBL in W. Bengal. The distributor told me to go for

1) GTO427 for front.
2) GTO937 for rear speakers.

Would this be better than 426e + 936e?

Thanks. Awaiting responses urgently!!!

Johy

Definitely YES !! They are the advance models based on 426 and 936 respectively. You can check JBL's website for the latest models.

Hi Sourav and everyone,

Got them JBL GTO 7 series ordered and the stuff should be here in a couple of days. Now here I am almost decided on the Pioneer 5750 or 6850 and have been reading through the forums over and over again -- and I get struck by this...do I really need them fancy lights on the Head Unit? Or should I go for a drab-looking, decent-sounding Blaupunkt?

Any Blaupunkt models to look up in the 7 to 8.5 K range? In general, do they sound better than Pioneers? It would be hard for me to "try out before you buy." Where I live, it would be difficult to get one decent model-- unless one orders the stuff.

Thanks.

Blau units used to coem with Merc. I think they are better than Pios and moreover you haev warranty and service by Mico or so.

What prices were quoted for the Pios?

No, you don't. I like that attitude man. Listen to the HUs and buy the one you like.

Well as I *still* wait for my speakers to arrive, I have not found much headaway with the Pios. Only one vendor sells Pios and he has only the following:

1. 5750 with B&W - Rs 10250/-
2. 5850 without B&W - Rs 8400/-
3. 6850 is not available

Wow, thats cool. In Bombay's car audio markets, sometimes even the paan-wala in the market stocks a piece of Pioneer or two.

:p

Here are the pictures of my ICE Setup and The Wooden Box to hold the Co-Axial Rear Speakers.

That's a very lousy way to connect the speaker wire to the box by just drilling a couple of holes on the side of the box. Get a proper terminal cup screwed to the side of the box to connect the speaker cables.

WHts tht! Coz you wanted to remove speakers you sacrificed for local connectors??? Find a good solution. Dont use taht connectors as they are for electrical work and can be more resistive.

Aint me right guys?

oh, I like the jbl cubicle sub ;)

Yes I too realize the same this now. But I am not getting about the terminal cup you are talking about. Can you please provide the photo or weblink for this terminal type ? I need to understand how it works.

Yes, I agree. These type of connectors will offer more resistance to the signal to the speakers. I will change it soon. Please suggest me a better option for connecting the wires so that I can still detach speakers whenever requried. I would like to do this work myself, back into engineering day ;) !!

And that "Jbl Cubicle Sub" is actually a Paper Towel Pack and was a freebee to me by my Audio Installer (Preetham @ Sound Factor, BLR).

Hi Sourav,

Thanks a million for those pictures!

Hi B&T,

I would like to see a picture of those connectors too!

The above cup is an example. MX makes such connectors locally and can be found at electronics stores.
