I have a factory fitted kenwood HU in my esteem. I want to move over to a mp3 player HU. Can anyone please suggest me which HU I should go for.

Should I go for Pioneer or Kenwood?
The model I selected are:
Pioneer 4850 ( Dealer quoted me Rs 4500, Grey Market)
Pioneer 5850
Pioneer 6850
Kenwood DPX - MP 2090 ( double din Model, Dealer quoted Rs 5600, Grey Market) Kenwood Corporation | Products | Car Entertainment | 2 DIN Components | DPX-MP2090

Please suggest me ASAP. I have a Sumoku 10' subwoofer installed.

If you can stretch till 9k, then get a PIO 6850. It's a nice HU!! Caters to almost every audio needs.

I too bought a wagon r vxi last month. Would suggest HUs in the range of 5-6 k....dont know about pioneer. Theres a Blaupunkt Mumbai MP 36 I guess for around 7K with B&W. Go for 4" Blaupunkt/JBL co-axials at the front and JBL GTO 937s at the rear. I followed the advice of Sam and the other gurus here and installed 4 speakers.....dont compromise on the speakers especially at this budget. If you go in for a fancy HU and miss out on 4 speakers, SQ suffers. I was lucky to get a JVC for about 5.5 k from the US and this fit nicely with the budget of 12k which included fitting the rear speakers on a good qulity wooden padded plank behind the rear seat. This would also double a s a parcel tray.

two speakers in the boot in my wagon R have gone bust.

Its an old car and so I am not looking to spend much. the setup is normal.

2 blaupunkt front speakers and tweeters, a kenwood maruti fm-cassette head-unit. 40wX4

what I am probably looking for is are a pair of 6X9's. The previous ones were pioneer 6x9's.

Just to clarify, 5K will get you JBL GTO series. The other series are much more expensive.

Devarshi,

A more cost effective oval:

JBL Car Audio | CS 3196 | FXAudio

JBL CS3196, Sam are these still available?

ok let me try to help myself out.

My WagonR has a Kenwood maruti tape deck. The Car is 7-8 years old. Has done 82K with not even a tyre change.

the rear speakers were pioneer Ovals which I had got for 2.5K then. they were installed in the boot door.

THey are not good anymore. The car is also used sparsely and so I just need something that sounds good. something that's basic.

so I am looking for the best sounding ovals for a cassette deck that is 8 years old for the besst possible price.

Yeah that's why suggested the JBL CS3196 ovals. There's nothing below these ovals unless you want a pioneer again.

These cost Rs.3750 mrp and I'm sure you will be able to get these for under 3K if you search a little bit.

Since your system is old and if you know a reliable grey market chap you can get these for Rs.2500.

There isn't much cheaper than this. Pioneer has it's blue cone range 6971, 6981, 6991 all some funny 3way, 4way, 5 way marketing gimmick speakers for around Rs.3K grey.

The JBL CS series are perfect for you as suggested by vid...Great VFM....Cause the pioneer low end speakers are all crap...They only look shiny nd bling bling...But the SQ is very poor...
