It was all fine till today evening when the LCD stopped working. First I thought the LCD was dead but it comes for like a second when I press the cd eject button and then goes off which makes me think that this is due to a loose connection issue. Has anyone come across this problem before with this or any other HU?

I had bought it from grey market so will Pioneer India Service assist me? Or should I take the HU to someone else? I'm in Bangalore.

Does Autocop provide service for Pioneer products in Bangalore? Their website says:-

Yes, looks like a loose connection all right.

Is the Service Center location the same as the dealer location? No harm in taking it to a Pio service center. At most they will charge if any part is replaced, if you don't have a valid warranty.

Not sure if this might help. But have you tried a factory reset? Its the small button on the bottom right corner of the display. Use a pen tip to push the tiny button.

Most probably the wire strip from your head unit to the front plate on which the front fascia is attached (you can see this strip - press CD eject and look from below) has got cut & would need replacement. It is a frequent problem on this model of pioneer with faceplate slide mechanism & typically the wire strip lasts between 1.5 to 2 years.

I think it costs between 700 to 1K for the same. Any head unit repair center would be able to repair the same. However if possible get it done at pioneer center as it involves soldering & local repair guys are clumsy
