First decide which area one has to damp......major one will be front door and the boot area.....I am leaving the rear door as very few car have speaker there......after that we can decide how much of the damping stuff is required....

after that how much damping is require....full sealing or partial or complete covering......like mine and Sam Bhai are full seal of the door but the door panel is left out....

2mm maybe thin to some but you wont have room for much more than that. It is a lot better than using no damping.

Wurth India has 2 products (aleast) so I dont know which one they are refering to here. 6 sheets of 250x550mm will barely damp one door (if that). LBM used 2 sheet of 1m x 0.5m for 1 door. That seems correct.

I could get 6 of these larger sheets for under Rs. 4.5K but they are too stiff so think that American Dynamics might be a better product. 3 sheets of AD costs Rs. 4200 and that is 2 sq. m. 6 sheets of Wurth is about teh same and that is 3 sq. m. so AD is about 50% more than Wurth but much more flexible and I'm told it's sticker too.

If you get hit on the door, you hear less of the crash inside the car.

on the serious note...if we knock on the damped door it will sound less hollow....but when we knock on the undamped door it will sound hollow....or it will create music of its kind......that is why damping is done.......

If I get hit on my car door which is damped, will they have to remove the damping material to carry out denting painting work?

Rags why not see if you can muster up some Delhi wallas and maybe Sam can make an order for you guys there too. Just make ysure everyone who orders is committed to paying for it. At Rs. 1400 per sheet it is not exactly cheap but it looks like VFM nonetheless.
Navin - I have already asked Sam to order some sheets for me too which I'll pick up from him & carry back on my next trip. That way we can save the excess freight and since Sam is getting bulk delivery from Bangalore he can get a freight discount too!!

LOL!!! Sam, L_B_M what are you guys drinking/smoking.

What if someone dents as in bangs the door say a bike or auto. then when we go for tinkering what happens to the damping sheets? throw or can be reused?

Vid I think it would be a throw case. Since the adhesive will not hold if you remove and refit a sheet.

Stop kidding the poor fellow.

If you get hit on the door, you might have to get a new door, but you can peel off and reuse the same damping.

Ishan - Can you increase your order to include few American Dynamics sheets (3-4 nos.) for me too..to be collected from Mumbai (to save on freight my friend )
Hey Sam : Can I have the part of the loot as well.!! to cover damping requirement for the front doors & boot NHC. Please do let me know then I can arrange to have the money sent across or hand it over to the regional treasurer aka party organiser aka car footwear expert...Iraghava..!!
