Of course I have a heat gun at home, shrivz. I can lend it to you if you need it. But must warn you, experience is necessary to handle it, else you'll overheat & melt the rubber & make a mess.

And what's so off topic? We're still talking about the DIY butyl rubber damping & it's installation, & the pleasure one can derive from the vehicle, n'est pas?

Sam : I wasn't aware damping was required for this (ahem!) activity as well..Always thought reverse was true ...more vibration/rattle the better !! Shows how much I have yet to learn ..Damn the two smilies rule!!

Buddy go threw the whole thread. VFM = Value for money. Damping is something which prevents excess vibration on doors, panels or anyother parts of the car.

Best and VFM are not always synonomous. Best product I have used is Extreme (as in Dynamat), the most VFM product I have used so far is a combination of 3mm sponge rubber sheet (shore hardness 60), 1.5mm lead sheet and a Dr. Beck Epoxy Industrial glue. However this was done when damping in India was a unknown.

RIght now there are guys trying Wurth (which I think is too stiff for doors, but one member has used it on his doors with good results) American Dynamics (which so far has only been tried by Sam) and Fonomat. I assume doing a good job on a Santro (doors, under carpet, rear hatch) would cost you about Rs. 8400 (6 x 1400) if you use American Dynamics and about 5K if you use Wurth.
