Help needed to for an high end install

hi guys this is animesh
i never knew such a forum existed for autophiles in india, great job guys

i have been reading the ICE threads from last 4-5 days for various kind of installs and boy o boy i never expected people to be this much educated regarding audio here in India,i though i know it all....but now i feel so stupid.

previously had 1999 model zen
which had a pioneer Hu
JBL 6"co-ax in the front and back
a pioneer 4-ch amp to run the both pairs
a jbl 12 "subwoofer
a kenwood 300 watt amp
boss rca wires

this system was decent for a budget of max 25 k ( i sold the car recently )

i bought a new getz recently and some how i have managed 50-60k for the audio set-up

Owing to my research on this forum which left me so much confused cause there so many opininons around ,though iam seriously impressed By Gunbirs installs , i have narrowed down to these options and need ur advice on following options...........

Hu-pioneer DEh-6850 - i like this Hu(9k)

Front&rear component speakers(please advice which one can i go for)(9k)
JBL GTO606ce
Alpine R-type
Infinity 6010
Hertz components(a friend of mine has a hertz 12"sub woofer -it sounds great...i dont know how hertz components sound....though he said i should go for them,at this forum the second time i have seen hertz (gubir's)installs)

Amplifier 1:(10 k)
these are the amps i would select from
Pioneer 6100
Alpine 240
Blaupunk 4 channel
sony 504

Sub woofers -(15 k)
i just love deep, tight punchy bass
Here should i go for 2 12" subs or 1 15" sub ?
these are the subs i would select from

Alpine type R
Jbl 12" bass tube
hertz
hows Kicker solo x 15"sqaure sub.....is it avaliable in india
any other brand...?

Amp 2 to run Sub/subs(15k)
pioneer 944
sony 222
alpine mono amp

wiring i guess jbl is the only option i have

and top of all i need a good installer u guys can suggest anyone in delhi.

waiting for ur replies

Congrates on buying Getz. Its good car for decent car audio system.

60K is very good budget for high-end ICE.Take some time and try out different brands before u finalize ICE.

And as u r from delhi,u can get help from JB/Gunbir.

Congrats on the car buddy.

Well since its a 60k budget, let me try to help you to a decent configuration. Gurus, forgive me if my suggestions sound stupid.

HU - Pioneer 6850(Since you like it) - 8.5k
Fronts - Infinity/Hertz Componenets 9k
Rears - Infinity/Hertz Co-axials 5k
Amp - Alpine 240(lovely SQ amp) - 10.5k
Sub - JBL Base tube(Since you like it) 6k
Amp - JBL GTO 301.1 - 13k
Wiring Kit - Audison/JBL/Streetwires - 5k
Install - 3k

8.5k+9k+5k+10.5k+6k+13k+5k+3k=60k (Now gurus howz that for being bang for the buck) . just kidding, our audio gurus will have a much better view on how to use up 60k on ICE.

anyways, you take care and wish you luck for your setup

I'd do something similar but maybe get a GT4-15 sub and use a JBL 600.1 to drive it and build a nice big strong box also i'd compare Infinity to Hertz before paying.

Welcome to TBHP.

You didnt do your homework well.

1) What you want SQ or SPL? or mix of both?
2)10 k is not enough for a good 4 channel amp with B&W
3) sub: refer to 1); tube is 2 boomy; want others 2 hear u ?
4) amp for a sub? stay with mono amp.... 10k plus I guess
5) You forgot RCA and wiring kit; 5k for a good one

thanks,guys for ur prompt response
few things i forgot to mention
iam more of a sq kind ,but when iam spending 60k i want some good SPL too.

i think i have to see the demo for components asin left channel with one brand ,right with the other to separate paper tigers from the jungle king.

though i have high regards for alpines ,u guys didn't seem much impressed with alpine r type comps and sub,how come?

and how about a sub ,any other option apart from jbl

iam ready to invest about 16 k in a single 15" or two 12" and 15k in the mon0-amp.

Navin saab, i with one GT4-15 15" JBL subs, JBLGTO301.1 Mono amp should be enough. 601.1 would be overpowered for one GT4-15.

Moreover, if you planning to get JBL Bass tubes, you can get two of them and use it with one JBLGTO301.1.
I had jbl bass tube in my car and it sounds very good!!

I think of something like this.

Pioneer 6850 HU (your choice) Alpine 9835 (my choice)
Good quality cables
Monster cable or VIBE RCA cords

Hertz components (Front)
Hertz Co-Axials (Rear)
Alpine F345 4channel AMP (for speakers)

Alpine type X 12" Subwoofers (Good for SPL and SQ as well)
Alpine M605 monoblock AMP

Dynamat Extreme or Wurth sound damping (Highly recommended)

It would be better to get in touch with GUNBIR as he is from Delhi too. I think you should consult him for any installs!

ok ,i guess 2 of 12" alpine type X would set me back by lets say 26 k......
i think its better of then to go for single 15" or 18" woofer under 15 K & 20k respectively ,powered by an alpine mono. or a jbl mono.

nd i haven't seen any 18" incher istalled in india .....i have heard an 18" kicker solo x in us ......oh my lord it was like the female attendent opposite to the install shop cannot handle the titillation

what brands can i look for a good 15" under 15-16k
or A 18" incher under 20k

I think HH has a budget of 50-60K

HH your original plan is fine.
HU: The Pio 6850 for 9K make sue you get a Bill and Warranty
Front and rear: 12-14K Infinty or Hertz or Alpine Type R (not heard Hertz myself) if you get Infinity you'll need 5K for the rear coax and 7K for the front components. Hertz cost a bit more.
Amps: 21K Alpine/JBL or Alpine/Pio etc.. 11K for the Alipe 240 and 10K for the JBL 301.1
Subs: 12K 15"x1 might fit the budget better than 12"x2 as you need to allocate 2K for a damped, braced, box.
Wires and Install: 5-7K

BTW if I could extend my budget by 3-5K i'd consider using an Alpine 9847. For 9K there is a nice Blaupunkt available too.

Also for the front and rear speakers I'd try and listen to Polk & Focal. Ihave heard Focals but not Polk but like Hertz I hear that their Polk Momos are good. Dont worry if you cant afford these speakers think of it as an ooportunity to listen and learn.

For subs you can get a decent 15" for 10K (GT 4-15) leaving 2K for the box. I dont see an acceptable 12" available for 5K.

a 12" has about 2/3 the cone area of a 15" so 2 12" will have about 1.5 times the cone area of a 15" but cone area is not the whole story.
