Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hello all.
I am eagerly waiting and hoping to get a good deal for dashcam in the coming Amazon & Flipkart festival sales.
I intend to go for the twin camera setup, that is one on front and other on the rear screen.
I had a small query. The rear screen is having the rear screen defogger. I hope the defogger does not damages the rubber camera mount when the defogger is switched on.
Has anyone faced something similar where the rubber of camera mount has been damaged from the defogger.
Or it's just my thought that such damage may take place.
Also, if such thing is possible, how to proceed with rear camera installation.
Please guide.
Thanks in advance.

I was also in the same situation and didn't want to install the cam on the glass so tried fitting it on the HMSL cover and was a perfect fit with a clear view.

See if your car has any such location where the camera can be mounted.

Excellent. This should be good enough. The car is Hyundai Venue and it has a HMSL inside the cabin. The rear camera should be an easy fix on that.
Thank a lot for valuable suggestion & guidance.

For most vehicles (at least for my 2015 Fortuner and Storme) there is space above the defrosting strips on the rear windscreen/glass to mount a rear-facing dashcam.

Not sure whether your vehicle has space, but I'm sure you can mount it over it - but be advised that the adhesive may pull off/damage the defrosting strip over which it might be attached.

Another fix would be to measure everything carefully, and cut the backing on the adhesive of the dashcam mount so that the particular area over the defrosting strip does not have adhesive activated, thus only attaching itself to the actual glass/windscreen...

I Ordered a 70mai 4K Dash Cam on 7th and have not received any communication from them. Have tried reaching the number mentioned on the website several times but the call is disconnected every time.
Luckily i ordered using the COD option.

What was the total amount shown when you finally checked out - same Rs.1000/-?

I have been surfing many online websites searching for this camera, but never came across above company.

Hope all goes well and you get the camera soon.

I too have ordered one from the same site. I have a strong feeling that its a bogus site, hence have given COD. I have little hope of actually getting the item.
The support mail id and contact number are not responding to queries.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

The 70mai A800 is now available on Amazon India app. Shall we buy it or A800 is not that good?
From the product photo it seems car inside video can't be taken because the lens does not rotate 180 deg. Actually there is no provision. Lens module is at the front side and not like an extension in the earlier 2k model smart pro.
Any suggestion?

Yes, car inside video can't be taken, but the product comes with the rear windshield camera. Many reviews say that this camera is good, especially with the voice control feature (of course 70Mai Pro with GPS also has this feature) which is not available in many camera's available around.

If you want a camera which can also focus inside the car, then go for some other models.

Shall be really grateful if someone can suggest a dashcam which can also function as a front parking camera?

Any dashcam that has an Android/iOS App which has a WiFi function, can be used as a parking camera.

Just switch on the App during parking and see the camera feed live.

Sorry, I meant a parking (assistance) camera. Ended up ordering this Campark Dash Cam which comes with a second camera intended for the rear. I am going to try and fit it in the front grill of my new Creta and use it as a front parking camera.

Have you all got the product or at least some reply from them?

In the meantime, I again checked the features of 70Mai A800 which does not have the Voice control feature as in the case of 70Mai pro (sorry, I wrongly mentioned in one of my previous message i.e. post no. 3191 that this Camera comes with voice control).

By the way, 70Mai pro is not available now on Amazon.
