Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Recently bought Rove R2 4K PRO DVR. The criteria for my purchase are: Higher Video Quality (preferably with 4K), 5GHz WiFi for faster downloads, Mobile app with good interface, Higher SD card support and cost ~10K.

The result is satisfactory so far with the criteria listed above. Few other observations:
- File Size of 1 min clip: 2K@60fps is 210MB, 4K@60fps is 245MB. I am using it with 512GB SD Card.
- The 4K videos uses H.265 Video Compression, which is not supported in tools like DaVinci Resolve (which I use for merging and cutting videos). Planning to go with 2K setting for now.
- The night video has too much of glaring from the lights. Better to buy with the filter.

Points specific to THAR:
- The unit/lens is very close to the windshield glass
- Higher level of Vibration in the video
- The higher position of camera gives a full view without the bonnet

Bought from Amazon.com and delivered to Singapore to my friend. Uploaded few sample 4K and 2K samples in the YouTube - https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL...5aIJkchbC0_XR2

This is a simple solution to your problem, get a USB male to female extension cable. You can get this and also tuck the entire cable routing it from below the floor carpet, or even route it to the front.

Link to the cable:

Would I like to consider non-chinese make, but that would literally double the price.

Iroad FX2 almost made the list, except for the capacitor part. I routinely park in the sun, so I don't want to risk it.
Samurai, I had the same criteria as you back in Apr-2023. Went ahead with Viofo A129 duo with SD card, CPL filters etc. Installed in June-2023 and so far happy with the purchase. Good luck .

Hey Samurai.

I am in the same ship as yours.

Viofo A129 plus and also A229 Plus and Pro ( I got a message from Viofo that it has come in stock) will meet your criteria.

True, this can be used for the connection, I just gave the information regarding the actual wire that we receive would be sufficient or not

Thanks,

Yes, that's right. But when I include a Hardwire kit and a CPL filter, it's going to be around ₹32,000. In the USA, the same setup costs about ₹20,000.

I'm hoping there will be a sale during Thanksgiving, so I can get a better price. I also have a cousin coming to India in December. But the problem with buying from the USA is that Viofo India won't provide a warranty for products bought from abroad.

I'm willing to accept the lack of warranty in exchange for buying it from the USA.

I will still go ahead and pay the premium for the warranty as its an electronic accessory and can fail any time. Also it will be subjected to rough environments and vibrations ,hence the cushion of warranty is always better.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I was looking for an affordable dashcam and I purchase Qubo Pro X along with Samsung Evo Plus 128 GB memory card. It costed me ₹3290 + ₹775.

I did the installation myself since I wanted to use the 12v socket in the car. The app is pretty clean and it is easy to use. There are no issues in connecting with dashcam.

If you have a pry tool, you will find it very easy to install it yourself.

Thanks for the info mate. How's the video quality - day + night? Is this a fixed installation or mounted on a suction cap? Can you share a couple of pics of the dashcam?

Price seems to be very reasonable. Please share some sample videos so we can see how it performs, pal.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Need expert opinion.
In Ford Ecosport, I had hardwired Viofo A119 Mini2 dash cam couple of months back. Cam used to hang intermittently and I wouldn't get to know that its stuck as it is behind IVRM. Sometimes it used to hang up with screen remaining on.

Had been in regular touch with Viofo India team and they suggested changing to extreme card, changing power input from GPS module to cam module. But problem did not get resolved. Switched to 12v mobile charger and it still continued hanging intermittently. (Like once in 2-3days). Full credit to Viofo team for excellent support. They sent in another set of camera and hardwire kit on their own to test out.

Had fixed the 2nd cam with mobile charger first, which in Ecosport remains always on. The new camera too hung up on 2nd day when car was parked.

This gives an indication that issue might be with car power supply. Have checked voltage rating, both car charger and fuse are supplying 12-12.4V. Car runs daily including weekends for atleast an hour, so battery is properly charged.

What could be the issue?
