Exactly the same location in my Figo which gives a good wide angle video (better than front).

In my case, it is also the place cleaned by rear wiper. An inch above would have disastrous especially in monsoon.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

While considering a Dashcam, especially the more expensive ones, how relevant is the risk of theft of the Dashcam..? Considering that a Dashcam is very easily visible inside the car, won't it be an obvious attraction for car break-ins? Suppose one doesn't wish to have monitored parking, can the Dashcam be pulled out and stowed away out of sight?

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I just bought a dual channel dash cam (70mai) for my Honda City 5th Gen. After watching online tutorials on YouTube about fixing it in the car, I am not sure I will be able to manage the wiring. Can anyone recommend a place in Coimbatore where I can get this installed? Many thanks for the help.

The risk of theft for the sake of stealing the dashcam alone, I think is minimal. Any briefcase or shopping bags visible from outside may offer a greater attraction to the thief.
To answer your other question, most dashcams can easily be disconnected from their plugs and windshield mounts and stowed away. This to some, may be a tiresome chore though!

In so many years of driving, I've never had my dashcam stolen! But then it all depends on our luck, I suppose.

Smashing of Glass and stealing things are very common in European countries, touchwood, its very rare in India. Maybe population density makes its difficult here. Have only heard if it is suitcase full of cash worth lakhs stolen, etc. Don't think thieves in India will take big risks to steal dashcam.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hello all,
I'm looking for a dual-channel dashcam and my budget is 10k-12k. I purchased 70mai A500S Pro+ from Amazon but had to return it because of screen-fogging issue. I'm planning to buy a new one and am confused a bit now.

•How is the overall long-term reliability of A500s?
•Should I buy the same one or consider something else in the same budget range?

Thanks in advance.

I use 70mai A500S Pro+ dual cam model since 2021. No issue whatsoever. So could be that specific unit you got was a lemon or the weather you use it in. However I use it in Bangalore weather daily as well as used in Kolkata and Andhra summer weather. In 40degree heat also it did not shutdown nor shown any issue.

Check Qubo 3K dual channel (in your budget) or Qubo 4k dual channel by stretching your budget to 15k (better sensor and features than 70mai A500s). But I have not used one nor know anyone use Qubo dashcam personally. However you can find couple of reviews here in this forum.

Thank you for the review. Will check qubo reviews too.

While checking out some reviews, I found A510 and according to reviews it is supposed to be a better/improved version of A500S and is around 3k more expensive (slightly out of budget) than A500S. Is it worth going for it considering the improvements, STARVIS 2, etc?

I have been using 70Mai A500S Pro Plus+ (not sure if its different from Pro+) for around two years now. I have hardwired the cam and its working fine.

If budget allows I would recommend getting a cam with motion sensor, geo fencing, live tracking. As A500S Pro plus has an impact sensor, it starts recording after one or two seconds post the impact, in parking mode. This might be crucial if recording while parking is important to you. I also found that its little difficult to read license plates during night. But i guess this was one of the best in the price bracket two years back. You might have better options now as others has already suggested.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I recently purchased a dual channel dashcam from Woodman, which came along with a hardwire kit. I am looking for recommendations for a good place to have it installed in South Bangalore, preferably in the JP Nagar or Jayanagar area.

If you have any suggestions or know of any reliable shops, it would be of great help.

Konarks on East End road does a good job. Speak to Rajender the owner when you get there.

Have you installed Thinkware dashcam?? If yes, which model was it & would like to hear your feedback.

Am currently using Transcend DP550 and it has served me well for the past 5 yrs, which I purchased from US through a friend of mine. Off late, its gets struck/hang often, while browsing through the settings.

There are positive reviews for the Thinkware and looks better for the long term investment. Inputs would be helpful

I ultimately went for Viofo A139 (Starvis 1) 2K front + 1080p rear. It's been almost a year now and I'm pretty happy with it.
