A229 Plus is considerably more expensive, I know it’s probably worth it but I’m not looking to spend this much.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Qubo 3K Dashcam – My Experience
Bought in November,1st week.

I’ve been using the Qubo 3K Dashcam, and like many others have pointed out, I’ve also faced frequent restarting issues with it.

The issue became quite frustrating — to the extent that the dashcam would factory reset itself almost once a week, wiping all date and settings and requiring full reconfiguration every time. Not ideal when you're relying on it for consistent performance.

Over the last 6 months, I contacted Qubo customer support 7 times regarding the issue. Their technicians visited 3 times, each time resetting the device, checking different angles (including blaming the SD card), and trying various fixes. But the problem persisted.

Thankfully, after months of follow-up, I finally received a free replacement unit from Qubo. While the journey to resolution wasn’t smooth, I appreciate that they ultimately took responsibility and delivered a replacement.

Also worth noting — I encountered a new issue where the dashcam suddenly went into OFF mode, and gave a voice prompt saying:

“Dashcam overheated.”
This was the first time I experienced an overheating shutdown, so something to keep an eye on with the new unit.

For the new Car that we have got - Plannign to buy One more Dashcam - and this forum is a good source of reviews. Thanks.

I own a 229 Plus and have seen a few random restarts while on the run, though not as much as the Qubo's discussed in this thread. The software/firmware experience too is not worth the praise with their poor UX and slow wi-fi transfer speeds (even in the 5G band).

With the inflow of several dashcam brands in the Indian market, spending an arm's length on the Viofo's are not justified anymore IMO.

I picked up mine along with CPL filter from US ,got it installed here and it works like a charm.Cars equipped with wireless CarPlay would need to switch Wi-Fi off for stable connection between phone and interface.

I would be glad to know about any other reliable brand model (except Qubo) equipped with Starvis2 and Supercapacitor at sale in India.

IMHO ,these 2 requirements for Clear Imagery and Safety during Indian summers is a bare minimum we need from Dashcam.

I was able to get my dashcam 70 mai A510 (dual channel) fitted in Kharadi, Pune.
Creative Car Decor in Kharadi, Pune-14, did a professional and quick job and charged Rs 1000/- for the installation.
Fellow Pune resident here from Kharadi. May I know where the serviceperson routed the cable from? Mine has curtain airbags, and I don't want the wiring to mess with them.
I saw the famous ChrisFix video, and doing it that way by myself looks challenging. So will happily get it done from the shop you went to if they can take care of the airbags.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I own a facelift XL6 Alpha= MT. It has 360cam feature but I have not been able to figure out how to use that hardware as dashcam especially without voiding the warranty (if someone knows about this then please reply).

About dashcams, I have been looking into this for some time now and fallen into analysis paralysis Would like to get feedback from fellow Bhpians:

- Is single channel dashcam enough? Is rear dashcam a must have?
- What features are non-negotiable?

Please suggest few good options of tried & tested dashcams.

Thanks.

For ayone looking to purchase the 70mai A510, I've ordered it for 10.8K with the card discount on Amazon prime summer sale today. Looking forward to getting it installed on my car. Will share insights once I get it done.

I have been using the QuboPro 3k dashcam for 9 months now and luckily I didn't face the issues you have faced. Once on a trip I noticed that the dashcam was not recording and on reaching out to customer care I was asked to format the sd card and try. It worked as the card storage was full. This was a surprise to me as the dashcam is supposed to overwrite the old content. I did notice the dashcam restart itself in a few instances and found that it was due to loose contact of the cable. Also, there was a software update recently and I will have to see how this goes now.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hi folks,

I am looking to buy a new Dashcam for Innova Hycross (will be finally getting one next week )

I have almost finalized Viofo A229 Plus, with CPL filter & a 8m long rear cable. But the price for all of these is around 30k which feels a bit too much when I search for dashcams at Amazon. Is there any other dashcam on market with Starvis2 and supercapacitor which supports 2k resolution?

Thanks in advance! Planning to order over the weekends.

If you are okay with an externally mounted rear camera you can go for the REDTIGER F7N Elite (STARVIS 2 4K HDR Front and 1080p Rear Dash Cam).

Else, you can go for the REDTIGER F77 STARVIS 2 4K HDR Front and Rear Dash Cam (you may check my review here)

F7N Elite rear cam can be installed inside as well, I have done it in my XUV 700 and confirmed with Redtiger as well that it is not mandatory to install it any one way.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Quick Summary

Product Installed: Hyundai Mobis MH7 Dash Cam (https://hyundaimobisin.com/products/...4/mh7-dash-cam)

First Impression: Disappointing video quality, especially in reading number plates-even in bright daylight.

Positives:

Power is drawn from the fuse box, enabling parking mode.

As a Hyundai Genuine Accessory, installation does not void the vehicle warranty (unlike most third-party dash cams).

Will post if I hear anything or there is new update.

Thanks

Action Taken: Reached out to Hyundai support to check if the poor video quality is a device-specific issue or a general limitation.

Can you tell video quality when F7N Elite rear cam installed inside? Few youtube reviews says rear cam quality significantly compromised from inside and number plate readable only when distance less than 5 mt. This does not happen with other inside rearcam models.

Third party dashcam do not void warranty if you draw power from cigrette lighter/12v plug and play socket

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I wanted to check if anyone has fitted a dashcam on their Honda City eHev sedan.
Any recommendations on the dashcam and any particular points to consider during installation?

I got the Viofo A229plus a couple of months back from Amazon and touchwood I have not faced any issues so far. My car is parked in the sun and hence a super capacitor based dual channel 2k recording was my requirement.

I am able to download the ~145MB video file on my phone in under 45s, which is good enough for me. This is my first and only dashcam so I am not aware of the industry benchmark.
