Oh yes, I get it now. Another thing that I noticed is when I access the recordings from the app, the camera stops recording and only starts it back once I move back to the view screen. I believe same is the case when modifying settings as well.

I personally feel that most accidents might happen in a frontal collision, probably 80%(?) or so.

The rear dashcam might usually be used in conjunction with the front dashcam - to confirm how the incident had transpired.

That said, we are in India. So there's no dearth of little monkeys riding triples on motorcycles and banging into your car from the back and then vanishing immediately into some side road before you can register that some bike has actually hit you.

So, my general recommendation would be to get dual dashcams if you can afford it. If one dashcam is all you've set your mind on, then front dashcam will cover a majority of your needs.

For the features, all that a layman like me can say is:
  • HDR recording is probably a must, to capture the licence plates in the dark.
  • CPL filter is a good thing to have, to filter out the windshield glare.
  • The ability to quickly get the videos moved to your phone - I generally keep a card reader to read the SD card on my phone through OTG - it's faster than Wi-Fi.
  • Finally, the dashcam should be as inconspicuous as possible. Easy as most dashcams are painted black.
Others might have better inputs than me on this.

I checked the footage from the rear camera today and honestly, I found it quite satisfactory. It was daytime footage and the number plate readability was quite good.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hello everyone,

I'm currently looking to purchase a dashcam for my car within a budget of ₹10,000 and would appreciate your suggestions. Here are my key requirements -

1. Decent storage(with loop recording) and good app support.

2. High video quality, capable of clearly capturing number plates during both day and night.

3. I'm considering a dual-channel setup (for front and rear coverage), but I'm hesitant to go for one if it requires dismantling the interior trim.(considering side pillars have airbags)

4. I want the dashcam to be powered solely through the 12V socket — I am not looking to hardwire it, as I would prefer not to tamper with the car’s wiring.

Let me know if I am missing out on any other important requirement. Any recommendation will be of great help

Thanks for your inputs.

I am a bit hesitant about removing the interior bits so for now would like to go for only the front facing one (which supports hardwire kit but won't install for now)

How about this one? It is on sale on Amazon India for around rs4800.
https://www.70mai.com/m200/
Has almost everything that I am looking for, apart from the Super Capacitor based power storage (this one has LI Battery of 300mAh).

I've gone ahead and ordered the 70mai A510 bundle from nexdigitron site. Getting the dual channel A510, 128GB memory card and CPL filter for ~14.7k. Yet to receive the shipment and plan to install it over the weekend. Will update my review once installed and used.

I bought the same camera but on Amazon summer sale with HDFC card discount for 10.8K and snagged a 128GB sd card for 780, yet to get the CPL filter after some usage.

Wow! I checked after seeing your previous post, but A510 dual channel is no longer available on Amazon and seems sold out. Only single channel is available at Rs. 9999.

He said Qubo dash cams have lots of issues and they don't fix/replace/refund they just keep delaying. 70mai and others get issues very rarely apparently.

Suggest everyone to avoid Qubo at any cost.
Managed to return the Qubo dash cam and bought DDPAI N5 dual during the amazon sale, installed it in my Kodiaq with help from an auto enthusiast friend of mine. Powered it though the USB C socket in the front.

https://www.amazon.in/Dashcam-Contro...s%2C230&sr=8-3

Pros
Super Capacitor instead of battery, seems ideal for India climate
Intuitive & user friendly app
32GB internal storage with option to add external microSD card
Compact form factor
Good Image quality
Solid and premium build
Option to add radar based parking monitor
Option to power the device through the OBD port using cable available from DDPAI
Voice control to easily take photos while driving
Fast Video download with 5GHz WIFI connection

Cons
No display/screen on the camera
The position of the USB socket on the camera could have been better

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hi,

I have a 70Mai A510 in one car and have already ordered the same Dashcam for my Creta which has curtain airbags (though installation is pending). Got it for ~12k in Amazon summer sale but members have reported for getting it under ~11k as well so you might need to hunt for deals. It has good app support with Starvis 2 sensor + night vision so would recommend spending the additional money. Also, you will need to purchase a memory card separately and a high speed memory card is recommended, which will be an additional expense. Coming to your questions:

1. Can support till 256GB, although I would recommend getting a high speed 128 GB card. App is responsive and easy to use
2. You can find enough samples on YT of the dashcam recording, I find the quality to be on the good side but take a call yourself
3. The 2nd car where I would be installing it would be Creta with curtain airbags. I am planning to install the wires for rear dashcam through the weather seal along the scuff plates so that I do not mess around the airbag modules at all. In my other car (Verna) I have taken it via the headliner as there were no curtain airbags. I found one post where a TBHP member has already done this (https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/diy-d...ml#post5279918 (DIY Install: Hardwired Front and Rear Dash Cam))
4. I am using the dashcam via 12v socket in my Verna since last Aug. No issues till date

Happy Driving

Qubo dashcam 3K pro rear camera mirror image issue

I recently got a qubo 3k pro STARVIS 2 front & rear camera for my new 3xO. I ordered it online and got it installed locally. The rear camera of the dashcam is capturing mirror image of the view. There is a button on the rear camera which on toggling gets the view upside down but does not solve the problem. I found the qubo support pathetic and they are not able to solve the issue for 2 weeks now. I have checked with qubo on video call - the installation is correct. I have also checked the app has no setting for this. Has anyone faced this problem? Whats the solutions?

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hello dear Friends,

After having gone through this wonderful thread, and agonizing over which dashcam to go for, finally purchased the 70mai a810 for my XUV 700 AX7.

Am planning to get it installed via a car accessories/decor store.
I live in Pune. Any recommendations near Baner/Aundh/Pashan area. Did see references in one of the posts for a Kharadi outlet, but it's too far for me.

Thanks in advance.

Well the issue was resolved by changing the camera orientation - instead of left to right , I changed it right to left. meaning qubo logo was appearing on right hand side. but the overall interaction and service with qubo is dissatisfactory

Dashcam suggestion for India w.r.t to after sales repair

Hi,
I am looking to buy a dashcam for my car. I had a look at 70mai & Qubo (somewhere in 10k-14k price) but I am worried about issues which might happen with any dashcam we purchase.
I saw a form at bhp that 70mai doesn't provide the repairs in India they just cover the warranty replacement. Since warranty is for just 1 year and most us use the dashcam for many years.

Can someone suggest me some brands which I can go for which also provides after warranty repairs & service in INDIA.

Guide me if needed if I am worrying too much about product getting faulty & should go for 70mai A510 as I am seeing that one has a decent quality?

Thank you
