I don't know the model number, but I think it is a pretty low end system.

It is possible to mount and connect 6X9 speakers in the rear.

Reviving this old thread.
As mentioned earlier , the deck is KDC 4029.

I was trying to find out the OEM speaker specs.
The rears have KFC 1656 LM & 130W printed on them - Googled - They seem to be 1 Way Mid Range Components

Compare Prices and Read Reviews on Kenwood KFC-1656 Car Mid-Range Speaker at Epinions.com

No idea about the front speaker models yet. Haven't opened the front doors and speaker manuals were not provided. They've probably given 1 way high range speakers in front then.

What are the implications, if any, of a 1 way mid range component at the rear ?

they're crappy dual cone speakers. No fancy name will make them sound nice. The HU is OK, the speakers are absolute excreta.

.. and I'm quite comfy with the audio. Quite understandably I haven't been exposed much to good car audio setups !!

So they probably have similar speakers in the front too ? Any idea ?

Nothing to be shocked about shuvc. if you are happy with the sound, that is all that matters. do not complicate yourself with the terms & supposedly better quality stuff discussed here. If you enjoy music, you will enjoy it on anything that can play it. believe me, i have listened to music on all sorts of rubbish & the supposedly good ones too.The bottom line is the music & not the system, so enjoy.

as & when you are exposed to ' good audio set ups' , you can make the transformation, if you want to. so & cheers
the system does matter, but not to the extent that it is made out to be.

a system is just a means. The pleasure is in the music. Not the sound.

Aha .. actually I realised that when I drove home yesterday .. even after knowing that it's crap, I was still enjoying REM on it
So the decision is to let it be for the moment.

I too have the Kenwood Baleno stock speakers. Can the gurus suggest a replacement of either rear or both front and rear speakers, same physical dimensions as the originals, as I don't want to cut anything, and within 5K? (please don't laugh guys - my days of splurging on music are over - it's school fees and piano lessons now)

I think the Baleno can accomodate 6" in the front and rear. Why not listen to a few good brands.

BTW is there a budget. We here at ICE get really exicited when there is NO budget.

Guys, some suggestions please. And don't get too excited. My budget is around 5K as stated earlier!
