A correction here, it must be DSK165 in the front and DCX165 in the rear. And you're right about Driven. They know they're job well.

you mean to say the 4" are components? in that case why not see if the installer can mount the tweeters in the rear doors.

am slept) can be a good excuse for mistake.
Just a queston here : Almost 100% of my music is downloaded one with
bit rates usually 160 kbps. I try to download songs with highest bit rates.
During installation i was suggested to play uncompressed format i.e. wav
file. Its not possible for me to get CD's of all songs. What i wanted to ask is
that is there any thing which can be done to compensate for the loss of
quality by playing compressed format. Also my PIO HU can play mp3 ,
wma and aac. Will it be any useful if i play my songs in wma format
after converting from.

can these be placed on the B pillar above seat belts aiming at the passenger at rear seat. (I am not sure if that pillar is called B Pillar)
How will the listening experience change if the direction of those tweeters is changed from rear seat to that of passengers at rear seat.

YES, Installation guys are right. Uncompressed format of songs(Normal Audio CD & WAV files) are much preffered to get hight quality audio. Since normal Audio CD (CDDA) contains PCM uncompressed data, they have good clarity. WAV file is actually PCM Uncompressed data + WAV header. You can extract WAV file of particular song from normal AudioCD by using some free softwares.
Regarding Compressed formats (MP3, WMA, AAC), all are targetted to reduce the size of file by sacrificing its quality (Lossy compressions). So in this case, clarity will be reduced. If you need to much high audio clarity , then you need to install HU with DVD-AUDIO (Special DVD media type targetted for high quality audio, 5 channel, 96Khz, 9.6mbps, Loseless compression using MLP & DVDA-LPCM) playback support. we had supplied for above mentioned HU to US based manufacturer for his 2007 model :) .
MP3 bitrate - ya you are right, we get mostly 128kbps or 160Kbps tracks. But you can get high quality variable bitrate tracks with 256Kbps encoded using LAME encoder. Heard it, you feel the diff.

No there is no method to make MP3 sound significantly better. However there is a whole forum dedicated to this and you can ask there (
www.hydrogenaudio.org).
Also if you are looking for CD quality sound and still want to save space and have tags try lossless formats like FLAC or WavPack. You will need software to let your ipod or MP3 player recognsie this format as well.
How will 320kbps mp3 sound, as good as CD?
If I am not wrong, most lossless formats compress CD quality files to roughly 50% of their original size or whereabouts. (as compared to 10% @128kbps, which is like having a 10 cd changer)
I know that there is "lossless" option in WMA itself (wma-9 onwards). Though WMA is widely supported by current HUs, I don't know how many (if at all) can decode lossless format. Any idea? If so, wouldn't it be the easiest option to go lossless?

- In VBR, Bitrate will be peak in specific part of audio track where we need more emphasis or audio clarity needed. In CBR, bitrate will be always at its peak. So in terms of size, VBR is much smaller than CBR of same peak Bitrate.
- in case of size
mp3 > WMA > AAC
- Try to use track with max bitrate for gud clarity
For getting gud clarity Mp3, You can try to convert the any WAV file into MP3 using Lame Encoder which is available in Net(using different bit rate setting).

WMA 9 suports WMA9 (lossy compression), WMA lossless and WMA Pro (Multichannel).
Generally HU supports only WMA 9 lossy.

Based purely on our own tests, we think WMA9 VBR (Q98) Lossy is ways ahead of LAME MP3 in SQ. I suggest others try / compare it (if you havent already) and I would be pleased to know your thoughts on this.
Well LAME mp3 is lossy compression, For actual comparison of apples to apples a lossless compression should be compared with lossless compression.
For example WMA(Lossless) with FLAC

I could get you to audition the same MP3/WMA disc Vs Audio CD in two separate cars with different ICE systems. On one, you will be hard pressed to find any difference, on the other the difference will be clear as day. So eventually it depends on the equipment one's using.
