Getting Swift ZXi. Want ICE!

Hi All!

I had joined this forum a few months back while researching on a Safari. Had also booked the vehicle but could not take delivery as some unforseen expenditure cropped up. The booking amount is still with the dealer which I will now utilize when the new 2.2 Safari comes up, probably by the end of the year.

Now I am in the process to take delivery of a sparkling new Swift ZXi in Silky Silver. Initially I will drive the vehicle and then it will become the property of my wife. The finances have been arranged for and the car should be with us by the end of next week or tops by the 1st week of July.

I am not planning to take any MGA from the dealer other than the mats and mud flaps.

I intend to take advice from the Gurus here for the ICE. We listen to everything featured on our music channels like Channel V and MTV. Generally Bollywood and Indi-Pop (Masala, Bhangra, Rap, Hip-Hop, etc.)

We would like to keep the setup as discrete as possible and intend to make use of the stock locations in the Swift (6" in the front and back doors) and add a tweeter but in the most discrete of locations.

We only plan to use an Ipod for all our music and if the HU allows, we will also make use of a USB drive. So no discs to be made use of at all.

Now coming to the budget. Initially we don't mind putting in about 15-20K for the setup but we can put in more later. While browsing, I came across the Alpine iDA-X001 which retails for about 310$ on Amazon. Which would roughly be about 15k-18K in India, but is it available in India? If it is available for about 18K then we can get this and put speakers which cost about 2.5K in the back and then add the front speakers a month or two later. I understand that the favored brands here for speakers are JBL and Hertz. I have located a dealer in Guwahati for JBL but unfortunately there is no response on their phone nos. (mentioned on Sam Baba's site ;-) www.fxaudio.com). So any help here. I mentioned Guwahati because we don't have any decent vendor in Shillong. Therefore I will be driving down to Guwahati for my entire ICE. Also, are their any recommended installers in Guwahati?

I also have an option to pick up the equipment from Delhi as I will be visiting Delhi soon after taking delivery of the vehicle. So any pointers in this direction will be appreciated.

I am not a DIY person so will be seeking professional help for all installation.

Sorry for such a longish post but I am too excited to be precise.

Regards
Sumit

I think Horsepower has pointed you to the perfect lead. Only question is where to buy from and Install. I am sure the stuff can be picked up from Delhi as u mentioned (might just work out a little light on the pocket). Installer / guys in the NE part might be able to give out good pointers.

I have been reading the post by horsepower but I understand my requirements are a bit different. I also wanted pointers about the availability of the iDA-X001 in Delhi and at what price.

My budget is 20K and as i mentioned i want to use stock speaker locations (front and rear doors) and won't prefer to use rear parcel tray. HU, i have to decide between Pioneer and Clarion. Speakers, I hvnt made any choice so far but JBL and Hertzs seem to be two popular brands amont experts here. Depends what fits in my pocket

JVC System

Hello Gurus,

I've recently booked Swift ZXi and it must be coming by the end of next week. So I thought about researching little about the ICE systems. I would now like to have ipod compatible system. After searching popular brands, I found JVC PR35 or PR 55 to be meeting my requirement. First I thought to go for 4 way speaker system from JVC only but the dealer told me that it won't go in swift as only 6" can go. After reading this thread, I got more convinced that I should go for component based system. So can you recommend me something from JVC. I found CS FS6 or FS5 on their site. What do you say? My budget is around 10 - 15k. Is JVC a god choice? I also found in this thread that alpine is very good but I do not know where in Delhi I can get this original. I'm scared to trust local guys unless somebody knows it. Also if you can recommend from where should I get the installation done in professional manner?

This would be great help.

Thanks

Deepak Bajaj

JVC is good if you are satisfied by its sound..but there are other brands to look out like Pioneer, Alpine , RF, DLS, MTX, JBL...

JVC hu are good VFM if you like its features you can go for it.

Thanks low_bass_makker for the quick reply. Can you suggest some model for the HU and the speaker within my budget and also from where I can get it installed? To be frank I've not got the chance to hear JVC. Just read it on net.
Thanks.

need some urgent help..guys
the 3 LED's on the cs 60.2 amplifier in the car after turning the car on are just blinking continuously .. and there is no audio form any of the speakers..
though the HEAD UNIT shows that the song is being played ..and the volume is also around 10.. !!
please help me ..
is it something serious ..cause referring to the manual of the amplifier shows
the blinking of 3 LEDs as follows.

Quote:
.
No audio Voltage less than 9V on Check vehicle
(POWER BATT+ connection charging system
LEDs flash)
DC voltage on Amplifier may need
amplifier output service; see enclosed
warranty card for
service information
anyways i am going to take the car to the guy who did the installation for checkup
and mostly will get the rear 937s removed from the amp. and get it directly connected to the the HU ..just the Components on the CS 60.2
uhh...i worried hope its nothing serious..

That should work. It might just be the 60.2 short circuit protection in operation. Sam is the JBL guy.

remove the output (speaker) wires from the amp and check that the lights stop flashing...

hi! Sach and deepak bajaj. You can contact our delhi Based ICE guru's i.e gunbir and autophile regarding installation.

If you are inclined towards Hertz then they will be able to help you out. You can always PM them for their suggestions. If you want no. then send me a PM.

Deepak. JVC makes good VFM HUs. Get one that costs about 6-7K from them. Then add a pair of components in the front and coax in the rear. This set should cost you 8-9K for 4 speakers. JVC does not make great speakers so try JBL CS, Hertz Deici or Blaupunkt Thx for the speakers. Try and listen to all 3 of these as they are all easily available in your area.

Sach, You can use the same setup as suggestd for Deepak but since you have 5K more to spend I'd check out the JBL GTO, Hertz Energy, or Blaupunkt ODx. However if you want to budget the extra 5K for the HU you would then get a HU with more features.
