that means that althought the XTC is covering the rear of the woofer it wont affect the sound of the woofer. also XTC ins only acoustically transparent only in the bass. it would make a huge difference if you covered the front of the speaker! XTC is designed to prevent dust and water from entering the woofer's rear.

Wish me luck fellow bhpians!!!
Amit, Im in posession of one GT4 - 15" myself

2 GT4's in the trunk of the CRDi is going to lead to some serious thump.
Lots of scope for you to experiment for SPL and SQ with positioning the boxes

Iv also been saving up for close to 6months for my setup (of course it doesnt match
upto the above config, but Im sure I will be happy with my aadha JBLfy )

edit : I posted after reading onyl page one, just finished looking at the pics and
your reviews so seems like your one very satisfied ICEy JBLfied T.BHPian

souljah, ya, 2 GT4-15" does give serious bass. The bass can be felt all around in the cabin.

Best of luck to you, and hope your waiting is worth-while. But believe me these JBL woofers are great!! Of course, i am sure that your would be planning to play a single woofer with GTO301.1.

First of all, sorry for being a silent member on the forum...

Well, i have been thinking quite a lot and feel its time to upgrade....Please the Post 1 of this thread to know my present system.

1) I am planning to buy a JBL 1201.1 GTO amp.
2) Caps
3) JBL Power series components speakers (P650)
4) JBL Two Power Series 12" subs

Of course, all this stuff is expensive for me, so again purchasing will happen in phases.

For the first phase....i plan to get 1201.1 and the Component speakers.

Presently i have a 75.4 which is playing front (GTO 607c) and rears (GTO937). I am planning to remove the rear GTO 967 and install the new P650 inplace of it..Now do you guys suggest on doing so? I mean would it be really worth changing to all four component Speakers?

Will play the 1201.1 with my current two GT4-15 15" subs till the time i can buy the Power seriers subwoofers.

The cost of this 1201.1 is so much that i cant think of buying it at one go. Moreover spoke the JBL guys in Mumbai too....They too dont have any finance facility with them .... So will have to think of other options of getting the BEAST

Instead of Caps put the money in better wires and a distribution block.

Why not get a second 601.1 (you alaready have one) and use one 601.1 per woofer? This way you conserve the depreciation of your existing 601.1.

If you are getting the P650 why not put them in the front and the GTO in the rear?

First of all,Hi Navin!!!....long time spoken to u.

Install of wires and dist block....hmm seems to be a better option. Well as of now i have original JBL wiring running across the car. So do you think i should upgrade the wiring for the 1201.1

Get a second 601.1....I had though of this earlier, but it looks like a lot of stuff in the car. So more wirings etc.. Also logically if seen, in future i plan to buy two 12" power JBL power series Subs which are something 400 Watts RMS. So having a one amp dedicated to one sub looks good...but the only problem is that its a lot of equipment. Anways, never know when i might stick and get another 601.1.....But there is just one problem..i kind of have a soft corner for the 1201.1 ......used to be my dream amp. So just thinking abt it.

Puttingthe P650 in front....Exactally what i plan to do. But when u say put the GTO in the rear, do mean to shift the front GTO 607C to rear or let the GTO937 be in the rear as they are. I am planning to shift the front GTO607C comp to the rear and install the power series comps in the front.

Anyways thaks for the suggestions....and keep them comming

Regards,
Amit

If you get the 1201 you will need to upgrade the wiring. if you get teh 601.1 you can just add a second run of wire for the second amp. my fear is that as soon as you get the 1201 you will have another dream amp. trust me this addiction never ends and I can speak for Sam in saying that even Sam would rather you save the money and spend it on some nice stuff (wine, cheese, jewelery etc...) for your loved one. Remember Sam represents JBL.

As far as teh 607C is concerned, since you have 2 15" doing bass duty I wonder if you even need the 937 in the rear. Besides the HF of the 607 is much nicer than the 937 so maybe you will be happier with the 607 instead of the 937 in the rear.

.
I second that....I once asked SAM about the idea of having a 601.1 and two 12" in ported for my indica, he replied "thoda zyaada ho jayega". now even i'm considering an upgrade.

Yes Navin agree with you...dreams keep on inreasing. Earlier 601.1 used to be the dream amp.

Agree with u on the point of putting the 607c in the rear. Probably after some time will get rid of the rear 937.
