Hole in the Sky (Karsh Kale) - Low, mid and tabla all in one, a good track to test a 3 way system
Hotel California Live Version (Eagles)
Angel (Massive Attack)
Swamp Thing (The Grid) - great track for setting the gains on the front components
The Thrill is Gone (B.B.King)
Iguazu (Gustavo Santaolalla) - some great guitaring to test the mid range
Breathing Light (Nitin Sawhney) - great music, great sound-stage
Last Train to Midnight (Nitin Sawhney) - good low bass and sound-stage
Spark (Nitin Sawhney) - nice track to check low end extension
Wherever I May Roam (Live) (Symphony and Metallica)
A Thousand Years (Sting) - soft low bass
Mimi's Song (Idan Raichel) - another track to check low bass extension
Shuvi El Beyti (Idan Raichel) - nice mix of low bass, guitar, flute and so many other instruments

Palace of Love (The Dhol Foundation feat. Ustad Sultan Khan) - Great mid-bass and nice track to check the sound-stage
Javeda Zindagi (Mithoon /Anwar) - one of the best recorded Hindi tracks, starts with extremely low bass, great vocals, then a nice bass thump and when the tabla sets in, the goosebumps!

i dont know if its been mentioned before - but the 7 focal demonstration discs are absolutely terrific for most of the demo work as well as tuning - if your system sounds good with most of those - it will surely be stunning with almost every other good recording

Chesky Ultimate Demonstration disc. Has the obligatory bass test which everyone seems to think is the be all and end all of audio 'quality'. Also has various other recordings to test depth, resolution, midrange, etc.

Only drawback I can see is that these recordings are so good, that even my crappy 300 buck speakers sound amazing.

Also has various other recordings to test depth, resolution, midrange, etc. Only drawback I can see is that these recordings are so good, that even my crappy 300 buck speakers sound amazing.
