Alpine 9830 for 6k. Good Deal?

Guys I searched all threads and couldn't find any prior comments on this issue so here goes:

My friend's got a Swift with some crappy Pioneer HU and he's getting an Alpine 9830 from his contacts (taken new off a Skoda) for 6k. He's got front and rear compnents and a Velocity Bass tube powered by a Sony 502. The Components are driven by a Sony 504.

Do you think for that price the 9830 would be a good deal??

It a good deal for 6K, PROVIDED it's in great shape. Taken new off a Skoda - so it should be.

It is a good deal the 9830 is quite a nice HU. My wife used one for 2 years or so. The audible differences between her 9830 and 9833 are small.

Yaar I am friends with one of the so-called GOOD installers of Delhi since in my group of close friends about 10 cars go to him for ICE work every now and then. The other day I had just popped in and he showed me a nearly brand-new 9830 he had taken off an RS (stupid customers I know) and said if I wanted it he would give it for 6k. Partly because it was semi-used and partly because he knew that I would know it's off an RS. So I called up my friend who had been complaining about the Sound Quality in his car and told him to get the swap done right there period. Now my friend calls me today and tells me that he hasn't even tuned the system properly yet and still the improvement in SQ ia so much that he's wondering what he was doing with ****ty Pioneer's for so much time!!

Anyways enough stories but if you want something like a 9830 or so I could source a nearly-new piece for you for peanuts. Not that you would need it with the 9835 & IVA-200

P.S. One reason I have been told for ages is that Pionner's have better display than Alpine's and I say yeah but does it have better SQ and most of the people don't know what SQ is! Fact is many people I know & have seen getting their HU's changed to Pioneer simply because of the damn Dolphins or the Indy cars or Racing Motorbikes and that kind of excreta!

Buddy... I think you are confusing me with Speedzak.. he's the guy with the above combo... I am sticking by the good ol SH**TY Pioneer ... P80RS to be precise... Apparently has been voted uniformly better than anything this side of USD1,000/-

And looks like a million bucks too!..

Hahahaha I read that!!!! Nice situation to be in haan you have a car and you buy some good ICE equipment, then you get a good deal and buy some more and suddenly one day you realise that the car is too small for all the fancy equipment so you buy another car

But I don't envy poor SpeedZak's situation!!!

Guyz! I'm not in a Situation here puhLeeez!!!!!!
My dad just got some loose change that he has allowed me for a second car. And My Alto will be the car I'll mostly drive around in the town and 'The Big one' will be used mostly for that highway runs guyz! And as I'm not happy with my current setup of Alpine HUs, I may even change those into the big car and fit my gud OL pio 7750 back into the Alto. I just looooove my Alto man! Pl dont ask me why!!

Nothing overgrowing here!
I am just getting choosy with the next car though!! Why?? Because it should have a good drive and should be strong enough to carry my bassy strokes!!

Hey Any more sparingly used Alpine Head units 9843 / 9830 / 9833 available ? ... I need one badly Am not much of an audiophile , but somehow found these players turn out some crisp sounds with avg.speakers. 5K-6.5 K preferably.
