To embed GPS info you would need a cam with GPS receiver. Checkout the one Arun has mentioned above - it has a optional GPS receiver/

I dont have a dedicated GPS device; thinking of buying a Holux Logger to record the tracks. These tracks can then be added to movies, pictures etc as required.

How feasible is this option ?

thanks,
Yes, you can do that. As long as your cam records pictures with timestamp, you can embed coordinates into the pictures. I think it should be possible for video also, but for stills, this is how I geotag my pics

Customs won't gobble. Just charge duty. But DX marks stuff as 20$ and gift, so 99% of time it comes through.

Its pure luck. 3 weeks back my dash cam got caught at customs despite marking it as 30$ by aliexpress. Customs asked me to bring the invoice and CC/Bank transaction statement. I had to pay 2K to get it released. The dash cam price was 106$. He said, recently he had started receiving these kind of small packages and hence wanted to know the purpose/requirement of these devices.

Like the earlier poster said you should have marked it as a gift with a value of 20$ not 30$, I think 20$ is the limit. by marking it as $30 you automatically fall under customs duty. I got a expensive car dash cam this week from aliexpress through DHL with a customs charge of 790rs by declaring it as a gift which is what dhl charges minimum for customs clearance.

Wekk 2K is about 30$ which is approx 25% total duty including CVD. So not a bad deal I would say.

That is 135 USD
So if you buy for 80$ and get hit with actual duty of 25% which is around 20$, you are still paying 35$ extra.
So, you can decide

Re: SJ1000 Action / Dash Camera - An extended review

I received my SJ1000 last week, had to pay Rs.839 as tax to the postal guy who delivered the package.

Yet to explore the mounts and initial view is that it cannot be mounted to windshield glass? any help!

Of course it can be mounted to glass.
There is an attachment cradle in which you fit the camera, and then the camera can be attached to windshield suction cup.

Where did you purchase it from?
And how much time for delivery.
Last query;did you check as to why did the postal guy charge 839 bucks?

That is the customs duty. Approx 13 USD
at 25% duty, I reckon the customs assessed the value to be 50 USD

Yes, this is true for all imports. Usually small stuff like cables and flashlights are exempt, but in the recent past, due to increasing number of imports, cameras and stuff(spy cameras too) are not coming under customs radar.
