Re: SJ1000 Action / Dash Camera - An extended review

Hi Akshay,

Yes that was for customs duty and had a receipt attached to the parcel for the payment to be made by us.

I picked this from Dx. com and they took around 3 weeks to deliver the same. Good customer service, as well when I enquired about the order status too.

Hi Tanveer,

I will look for the attachments and try to fix it up. The camera itself is of very good build quality and the attachments too are no way cheap plastic. Thanks for your review and this will now occupy my car, and the one in my car will move to wifey's car

Does the SJ4000 come with a car power adapter that you can connect to the 12v battery outlet?

See this pic.
You see the suction cup mount?
It connects to that cradle thingy in which the SJ1000 snaps in.

See this pic too
The second mount in top row from left is where you put in your camera. Then you screw this on to your suction cup

I am planning the same for my bike. Do you find the bike and helmet mounts of acceptable quality to find on the Harley? Harley has a 1" dia handlebar. Will the mount fit properly. Is it adjustable/reversible for front as well as back recording? Does it come with a Chest Mount?

@Tanveer - or should I go for a SJ4000 for a more bike based usage pattern?

For bike I would recommend either the SJ4000 or the mobius. SJ1000 is more suited for car IMHO
I have tested mobius and sj1000 side by side, and quality wise the mobius holds its own very well.
Will post a comparison video too soon

Thanks. Ordered a SJ4000 with a additional car mount as I think they don't supply one as default with SJ4000. Paid through Paypal Rs. 6466/- Lets hope for minimum duty.

See this pic.
Thanks, TSK!

I have tried this and it looks like this will not go onto the windshield as the camera will be upside down and will not 'look' straight out. This might be a better fit for dash mounted camera and not windshield mounted one. Also the clip is too 'light' to hold the camera for the jerks and bumps and might drop the camera

Dkaile,

Congratulations and will wait for your review on SJ4000.

Dkaile,

You have to snap the camera into the clip tightly. It won't fall.
If camera is upside down, no worries.
I think new firmware allowed 180 degrees rotation.
Otherwise, its a simple fix in VLC media player or many other free editors to just flip the video
Also, once you upload to youtube, you can do 180 degrees Flip
If you see my sample videos, I just flipped them before uploading to youtube.

For vibrations which can come due to this camera(see my footage), its best to simply tighten the screw using the tool which ships with the camera.
