Asked the seller for a replacement & he did, this time I got a yellow one & it still faced with one of the two issues i.e. lot of Shakes.

So i am returning it as the shake is too much.

You see the suction cup mount?
It connects to that cradle thingy in which the SJ1000 snaps in.

I have tried this and it looks like this will not go onto the windshield as the camera will be upside down and will not 'look' straight out. This might be a better fit for dash mounted camera and not windshield mounted one. Also the clip is too 'light' to hold the camera for the jerks and bumps and might drop the camera
Hmm you need to flip that open & rotate the bracket using the screwdriver provided to correct the orientation, atleast thats what my documentation stated.

This is how it expands

Image Source - Check this link it has lots of images

Correct the orientation & then it should mount as pic below

Hi Akshay,

SJ1000 is good and meets my requirements. The camera is well built and captures a good range. The reproduction is as expected and has the noise reduction to suit the video shoots. I also like the compactness of this camera and hardly blocks your view.

Thanks to TSK & Technocrat, for the details on the mounting to the windshield. There is that problem of shake when mounted to the windshield, which I am sure will not be there if I use the dash mount option. I shall try that and post back on this thread.
I will get that power cable tucked in over this weekend to avoid the eye sore and the disturbance it can cause while driving the car.

I really like the full kit that is provided with this car DVR, as it can easily morph into many utilities at a short notice

I saw this in a store in America recently
Do you think it is a good option?

Hi Akshay,

The windshield mount does have a bit of shake to it!

On THAR- it might actually be steady as the vibrations might cancel each other(like noise cancellation headphones...am stupid here!!)

I might come up with some DIY(like soft foam padding) to see if that can help make this good camera, otherwise more steadier

Re: SJ1000 Action / Dash Camera - An extended review

Hi TSK,

That is an awesome comparo video, will really help the future buyers. The SJ1000 does shake more than the Mobius, however I am fine with that 'shake'.

The reproduction of SJ seems to be better than the Mobius one.

Re: SJ1000 Action / Dash Camera - An extended review

Ordered following today morning from DX Listing -
1. SJ4000 1.5" TFT 12.0 MP 2/3" CMOS 1080P Full HD Outdoor Sports Digital Video Camera - Black (SKU:1003709)
2. Universal 1/4" Suction Cup Mount + Tripod Mount Adapter For GoPro Hero 1 / 2 / 3 / 3+ (SKU:1004165)
3. Miniisw M-C 1 Elastic Chest Belt w/ J-shape Fast Assemble Plug for Gopro Hero 1 / 2 / 3 / 3+ (SKU:1003192)

Total - $117.32

I really like the way the videos you get with go-pro mounted on the chest mount. The SJ4000 uses most of the similar accessories as go-pro. Worth trying out this as an alternative to the INR 36k go-pro. Will mostly use it as a sports cam for the motorcycle rides.

There are couple of elaborate video reviews on SJ1000 and SJ4000 on youtube by "Techmoan". Found them very informative to take any decision.

Re: SJ1000 Action / Dash Camera - An extended review

SJ1000 is good for car, i tried it in my helmet with vaccume suction cup provided by them and ended up dropping it two times on road but luckily it's still working.
Later i tried mouning on my bikes incicator and videos were too shaky. I am putting this as permanent dash cam for car, need to look for bike cam now, interested in helmet cam, will post the videos from home for the refreance.

Yes, it is safe to buy from Junglee. In fact you should bother about the seller's ratings rather than Junglee, which is a subsidiary of Amazon.com, the world's largest online retailer. And may I ask why are you considering this particular 720P one, while well reputed SJ1000 (1080P) is available at similar, if not better prices in various online shopping sites?
