I tried googling but I am lost.
Navin/others, can you post/PM me some good VFM brands for Audio cables.
Or what to look for, in the cables?

Thanks Abhinav, however this (and most other) cables are only 6-7', which I guess would not suffice from front seat of Civic to the boot, with all the routings involved.

As Derlite suggested, I would want to avoid joins, hence I am looking at a longer cable.

upgrading front speakers

I want to upgrade my civic's front speakers to something better. My budget is about 10k, and listen all kind of songs.

Don't have any plan to change HU or add any amp now, but want to leave that option open too

Please help me.. I want to do it quick as I am planning a 1500+ km trip.

Found any cable.
I saw one at a shop in delhi but wasn't too good quality wise. Looked and priced pretty cheap.

Did you manage to do this? Even I am looking to upgrade the OEM speakers, at least the front ones, to start with. What the best options available for this considering that I will keep the OEM HU?

I typically listen to old south Indian songs, semi classical and pop / soft rock English music. Also ok with some of the "softer" variety of Bollywood songs(TZP types). Cannot tolerate hard rock, metal and loud varieties.

Guys need help, I have still not been able to find a good stereo 3.5mm to RCA cable which is at least 15' in length! I guess many don't exist!

I am now thinking of buying 3.5mm Gold plated stereo connectors and soldering them to one end of my existing RCA (by taking of the RCA plug). That way there will be one cable and two joints less in the path. Is that a good idea?

If yes where can I get these 3.5mm gold plated stereo male plugs, and which brand is recommended?

Vasoo, may be it is best to retain the stock speakers if you are not adding an amp. As HU may not be able to drive most component speakers which are designed with more power in mind. If you are adding an amp then best way is to audition few speakers in fellow BHPians cars and decide. IMO that is the best way to meet your taste or at least get a starting point what type of speakers you are looking at.

Making your own is definitely a good idea. Try Amar or Texonic in SJP Road area, or the audio component shops in the vicinity for gold-plated 3.5mm 'jacks'. Not sure of a brand, you have to make your own judgment whether the product is good or not.

No, HUs CAN drive components (other than the rare power-hungry ones). And components will outperform any stock speakers even driven from HU. Amps improve the dynamic range, but if budget is allocated in steps an amp can come in later.
