8650 is the preffered HU.Think teh price quoted for PIY was too much. Hope thsi helps

I think the P1Y is a very very bright sounding head unit, and by bright I dont mean bright as in intelligent, and the additional power (60Wx4) is barely noticeable, and that 6V pre-out is unnecessary, and 4.5 volts works just fine with your everyday amplifier. Even the blue display with break dancers and DJs makes my head spin and feel like throwing up, and is a big no-no after half a bottle of prime spirit in my blood stream, and the rotary knob is a pain in the bum to navigate with and the most basic of basic Alpines would run circles around it in sound quality.

ok gurus , thanks for replying .one last suggestion should i go for 8650 or the new 8850.8650 has s10.1 mechanism and 8850 has s10.5.what is the diff.the price of 8850 in chd is 19000.one dealer has it for 17000 brand new.the only thing bothering me is can the 17000 unit be a refurbhished one or is it the right price what about the price in delhi.and i am sorry for using CAPS.

In India, anything can be refurbished. It's our duty to make sure we're not buying one. It is not much difficult to identify one. Just compare from different shops.

make sure you are getting a BILL and a MANUFACTURER's warranty from an AUTHORISED dealer.
