Gunbir bhai, I had got a chance to audition the Kenwood in the last to last meet at SPICE MALL in that silver Indica. Really liked this HU, infact i was planning to change my 8650 with this one. But now that my HU is working so i've postponed this.

guys i checked the 8850 and 8650 in my car ,hell who will check car audio on the shops speakers i dont know.well the 8650 has a tighter bass than 8850 ,the mid and highs seem lot better ,8650 it seems holds the speakers and make them work .the 8850 just had sort of loud sound and doesn't pump the sound .if anybody doubts my verdict please listen to both sys on the same setup with the same song (original cd's not the ****ty mp3's).Even a novice will be able to tell the diff. there must be some reason i left a latest full featured and a COOL looking unit for an older and problematic one like 8650.

There'll be different views pouring in always here in the forum. Dont get worried morten! It's normal. If you're happy with your sound, then it's always better to let it be like what it is and dont fall into our words. We BHPians are very much experts in confusing ourselves and others.
Some like 8850 (me included) and some 8650. There're some who still like 7750 and will sell their alpines for it!

hey guys,

I feel that we shud jsut let the amp/s and the speakers do all the work... EQ/Tone settings on the HU should be left Flat.... In fact I would love to own a HU which has a Defeat ON/OFF toggle...

1. It tells you how good ur amp/s and speakers are.....
2. Also tels you how good ur HU is.... if ur DAC/ HU SQ is any good ... in fact, you can judge your HU quality by testing CD's with a totally Flat EQ setting...

Thats how I see it ....Thats also how I have my set up........

One of the reasons I dont like pioneers and alpines are they have too many lights and bulbs shining all over.... I know it sounds stupid...but...thats me again.... ...esp pioneers....
Well frankly have not heard any alpines except in soemones Honda City ( the new ugly one )..I think it was OEM..... well I dunno what spekars etc were there..but the SQ was quite bad....

That's funny becasue that's the first time I have heard somebody say that Alpines are too flashy!! I find them VERY restrained compared to Pioneers.

As for SQ can't comment on the model you auditioned but I am pretty happy with my 9813!

you are right Iraghava... they are far less flashy .....well they are OK as compared to the Pioneers.........
As for SQ..Maybe I need to hear a few more..as they coem highly recommended from msot of the gurus.....mayeb on the next T-BHP Meet I cud hear some.... i had heard soem in some shops... in the shops all HUs sound the same to me...

I think audtioning of a HU/ICE can only be done inside a car...... reminds me of a shop in Tokyo where they had a whole car on the 12th floor ( where they had the ICE section ) ....whre you could actually ask the sales guy to get you to install the HU and hear it.......
