it was the thingie with 3 legs....LBM pic's top (circled).

and bhai logon, the gain is NOT on full. its on 55-60%

Those three legged thingies in LBM's second picture are the ones that do the actual amplification... which is why it is screwed onto the heat-sink... dont think that has anything to do with thermal protection (other than generating the heat of course!!)- nor is it a part of the actual power circuitery...

GURUS... Please forgive me if the above is all crap... Just give me the "Foot-In-Mouth" Award and I'll be on my way.....!!

i really dunno (being a non-technical guy)....it seemed something like LBM first pic circled [top].

Panky... gain has been explained in earlier posts... Yes you are right... The amp can put out rated output even with gains at 25% - dont confuse the word with the meaning in this case .. GAIN here is used at the input stage to treat incoming signal.. and there is "NO GAIN" from this at the output side in most situations..

...Man I manged to sound confusing even to myself!
