I finally took the time out to change my OE speakers for the Optra for JBL 61/2" components in the front ( JBL GTO 606CE ) and 5 1/2" 2 way speakers for the rear ( CS2165) in Bangalore PitStop . All these are door installs.
My setup so far :-
OE Blaupunkt HU ( cause i use an iPod ( Aux in ) dont need to change this , unless someone justifies that another 10K spent on this for upgrade.
I need to put in a sub and an amp for 12 - 15 K ( amp + sub)
What do you guys recommend.
Hi Lemon
Which model of OPtra do you have? what are the default speaker sizes of the same and what model of Blaupunkt HU does it come with. Thanks
they come with 6" two way speakers in front and 5 1/2" two way for the rear. GMDAT speakers - 4 ohm with 40 watts RMS max.
Optra is 1.6 Elite Beige 2006.
What blaupunkt model HU does it come with ?
There is no model number....its just OE Blaupunkt
Lemon!!! nice nick!!
Get a JBL 4 channel amp and a JBL box SUB. We would recommend a sealed box. But listen to ported or tube setups also. And buy the one which suits you best.
Installed an Alpine CDA - 9857 with Ipod and Full Speed Connection.
It was really worth the 16000/k ( grey ) , as now I can control the ipod without even looking at it. The ipod safely sits in the dash, while the HU controls the songs. And the power this HU pumps out makes me realise that the component JBLS in the front can really sing.
Got it installed at SoundWorks - Chennai through Mr. Jonny, really professional guys.
I thought the Alpine logo appearing on the iPod screen was really a cool touch and it stays charged the whole time, which takes care of the one major complaint with the ipods poor battery life.
My only gripe is with the remote , which has too much real estate left bare , and just the basic controls.
But im happy nevertheless with the upgrade....as happy as a pig in the mud.

congrats on your ICEing
and "Installed an Alpine CDA - 9857 with Ipod and Full Speed Connection." cost you 17k? good price i guess
Started in august06, ended in jan07. Well done and congratulations.
Thanks sam.....but wil stil be putting in a box sub and a 4 ch amp at some point.....
I will update this thread at tht point.
also going to switch my rear 51/2 jbl co axials for 61/2 compos.
Congrates for new setup.
I think you should have to add amp and sub before you upgrade rear fills.
Yes meugenpower....i definetly intend to do it in that order

budget????????????????:p
Im thinking - 10-12k - 4 ch amp
8-10k - Box Sub
Eventually - component JBLS for rear fills - 8.5K
Wiring - 3.5 K
you can go for a JBL sub+amp combination.....amp could be cd or gto series.....and I would say go for a sealed box version not the tube one as they only provide the boom not the sound....
