I have a Kenwood 10 Cd changer , coupled to a Kenwood HU in my car.. has been working like a dream for past 3 years..

Since yesterday , the CD changer is not working..when i shift to CD from tuner / tape in HU, the changer starts loading all 10 cds one by one , tries all 10Cds and in the end says E - 02.. ( error 02 )

looks like it is unable to recognise the Cds..

What might be the problem ? Appreciate if any can throw some gyan on this.

Thx in advance for your time.

have you tried cleaing the lens ?

Did you try loading just single CD in each of the slots at a time ? This is help you to determine if any slot is having the problem in detecting the CD.

If this fails, is it better to take it to some professional workshop for a checkup. You can try Kenwood's service centres around the city.

I had a Kenwood 10 CD changer in my car earlier. This same problem had happened to me once. There is a reset button (a recessed thing inside a pin-hole which you'll need a pin to push) somewhere on the bottom or side of the door frame after you open the slider to load the magazine. When I took mine to the service center, the guy just waited for the error code to appear, and then pushed in a pin and reset the thing, and it worked.

Buddy, if you're trying this, do so at your own risk. (I have to say this).
I mentioned this because, you'll find the right way to do a reset in the manual. There maybe considerations like power wire connected/not connected, magazine in/not in etc to take into account before you do a reset. If you get them wrong, you may brick the changer. But once you figure out the right way to reset, I think your problem should be solved. You should find insructions in the trouble-shooting section of the manual (usually towards the end). There will be a table showing various error codes, and instructions on how to fix the problem.

Hope this helped.
