Re: ICE upgrade for the Toyota Innova Crysta

Hey Folks, Need a bit of insights/ help with my Innova Crysta 21 GX. The front speakers (both doors) have stopped working, the car hasn’t gone through any deep puddle or service between when they worked and stopped. Tried a hard reset of the car by disconnecting the battery but no luck. Any inputs would be appreciated. If you have a trusted & recommended audio shop do share contact (in Gurgaon). Or would this need Toyota A$$ to help fix. Caveat : I did have the speakers changes to JBL components in the front & co-axial at the rear in early 22 so not stock speakers.

Hi, can you ask your mechanic or electrical technician (who fitted the aftermarket speakers or who knows and does aftermarket electrical fitment)
  1. whether an unwanted grounding has gotten created from the speaker wiring that was added when those after market speakers were fitted
  2. whether any speaker wire has been cut off inside the insulation, however that cut off is not visible, since the insulation is intact.

Thanks, thats the last option to take it back to the fitter but he didn't fill me with confidence. But the bigger issue is that both the front speakers including the tweeters have stopped working.

It's most likely a wiring issue. The wiring might have come loose or been damaged. Since both front speakers stopped working simultaneously, it’s probably a connection issue either at the head unit or where the wires split to each speaker.

Considering the speakers are aftermarket, it’s best to first consult with the audio shop that installed them. They should be able to provide the best assistance. Alternatively, you can visit any reputable car accessory shop nearby.

For trusted audio shops in Gurgaon, you may refer to the Team BHP directory.

Re: ICE upgrade for the Toyota Innova Crysta

Hi, I am looking for some very specific advice on replacing the stock speakers on my Innova Crysta 2.8z 2017 model from the experts here. My requirements are as follows

1. I do not want to add an amplifier. So please suggest speakers which perform well without the need of an amp.

2. Decent option for the front components. However, I want the tweeters of the front component set up to be housed in the same slot as the stock set up, I do not want them to be mounted on top of the pillar's surface.

3. Decent coaxial set up for the rear, again, something which has decent performance without the need for an amp

4. My player potentially has a 2v sub out (Blaupunkt San Andreas). In case (this is purely optional) I want to add a very compact sub, kindly suggest a model.

As always, very thankful for the wealth of high quality suggestions that this forum offers.

So Basically youre looking for a good plug and play swap. I would suggest you the 2 options below.
  • Both these works great without Amps. Make sure to get the car damped. Would recommend Morel Damping sheets, atleast 2.1 mm.
  • Ousail F165A component for the front and same Coaxial for rear. Pricing should be around 15-20K for the combo. Available at "Audiophyle" and "Motobeat Kochi"
  • Motor Concept Aman had came up with Audiocircle components. Told were great speakers with good SQ.

Hey! It is quite possible. I found this car studio who could do it in Goa. They are clarity car audio. I got in touch with the owner, they retrofit newer systems that are removed from cars (all makes from what I have seen) that have their systems replaced with after market ones. They do the same with Crystas and Fortuners (2016 - 2019, the ones that did not get Android Auto and Apple Carplay) I am getting my Fortuner (2019) retrofitted with the newer one. I'll keep you guys posted if needed.

Re: ICE upgrade for the Toyota Innova Crysta

Hi all,

Can an aftermarket amplifier be added to the original innova crysta system (2017 ZX) ? The reason I ask is that the speaker output wires in normal stereos like pioneer or android players which serve as inputs to the amp are easily identifiable but in Crysta the speaker output is from a set of pins and an integrated connecter. I dont intend to change the system since I am planning a CarABC converter for wireless AA/CP but was looking to add a sub to improve sound output. Pls advise.

Also, can you please suggest a good professional installer in Mumbai who will not force me to buy stuff off him since I am getting the electronics from elsewhere.

Thanks in advance!
