Yes i ordered the 187E. You do need the ISO to Quadlock connector ... i had the older version of HU before (without Carplay/Android Auto) and i had ordered the adapter at that time - so it was plug and play this time for me.
Making a faithful UI copy isn’t a difficult thing at all for a bunch of Chinese coders. Some of these are WinCE and others Android.

So a good test is, if the deck was indeed stripped from a scrapped VW and converted by the seller you’d see VW logos and part numbers stamped at various places on the plastic fascia and metal CPU of the head unit. Is that the case with yours?

Thank you for the useful information and link ethanhunt.

I have a Jetta TSI Comfortline 2014. Presently, I have a 187A (RCD 330G) Desay AV HU installed, bought from a popular seller in Delhi. Since, the HU does not support Android Auto, I wanted to upgrade to a 187B or a 187E. I had some questions related to that: -

1. Will I need an ISO to QuadLock adapter? Did not need it with the 187A. I am attaching an actual photo of the connector in my car. I am presuming that the one on my car is a QuadLock connector. So if the 187E has a QuadLock connector, it should be a seamless direct fit, like the 187A.

2. Which is a good camera that I should order from AliExpress, or any other source, which will work seamlessly with the 187B/ E? I wanted something which will go where the light for the Number Plate is and would hate to drill my bumper. I also want to avoid using a third party delay unit.

3. How much better is the 187E over the 187B? The 187B seems to sell for significant less on AliExpress now. If the Android Auto experience on both is equally good then would tend towards the 187B...

Had messaged Yatch Science on AliExpress, and Kathy from other side responded with the attached picture. Its clear that the 187E has a QuadLock connector. So on my Jetta this should be a direct fit.

Some more research points that any post 2012 VW car with steering controls should be a direct fit.

If you didnt need it then - you dont need it now. Its a simple swap

Even i was debating between the two - from what i understand the E version has slightly better performance & RDS. It works just fine in my car - but you may go for B version as well.

ethanhunt, have decided to go for the 187E from the above link (YatchScience @ AliExpress).

how much was the customs levied on yours?

also, have you been able to get the OPS display going on this?

or, do you have a reversing camera installed?

You can ask the seller to mark it as a gift and at a lower price - i paid around 1k in customs. I dont have the OPS working on this nor a reversing camera - i am happy with the audio sensors alone.

I got this one (Link). It replaces your existing boot release switch and has the rear view camera inbuilt. It is built for RCD330+ and works perfectly with the 187B with Android Auto in my Jetta HL 2014.

Re: VW Polo/Vento : Replaced stock RCD320 with RCD330 Plus + rear view camera installation guide

Today I removed the RCD330G 187A Desay AV HU fitted in my Jetta CL and installed into my wife's Polo SR.

It was a direct fit, other than the antenna connector, for which I guess a common adapter is required. The Polo SR has a CAN-bus enabled ISO connector. All the steering mounted controls work flawlessly. Infact, it seamlessly integrated with the car...

I could not get OPS display to work in Jetta, however the same worked without any tweaking in the Polo. I guess, as pointed out earlier by someone, it is not possible to get it going in Jetta CL.

I will be installing a 187C/F unit in the Jetta soon (for Android Auto). Hoping if the OPS display works by some fluke. Otherwise, I will install an RVC.

For the ops to work in a jetta CL, you need to have a high line bcm. I had got this done 2-3 years ago. And if I had to choose to do it again, I probably would not. The bcm is in a weird location behind the instrument cluster . Secondly, there is very little room to play with.

Thanks. Was your older OPS addressable through VCDS?

VCDS reports that I have the following OPS in the Jetta: -
Quote:
Address 10: Park/Steer Assist (J446) Labels:| 1Q0-919-475.clb
Part No SW: 5C6 919 475 HW: 7E0 919 475 A
Component: PARKHILFE 8K H10 0005
Revision: -------- Serial number: 07381320000410
Coding: 108001
Shop #: WSC 00047 000 00056
ASAM Dataset: EV_EPHVA18VW3610000 001003
ROD: EV_EPHVA18VW3610000.rod
VCID: 71E85860A07DFECE75-8024

No fault code found.
Whereas, the one on the Polo (with which the same HU shows OPS data) is: -
Quote:
Address 10: Park/Steer Assist (J446) Labels: None
Part No SW: 6R0 919 475 C HW: 7E0 919 475
Component: PARKHILFE 4K H11 0013
Revision: -------- Serial number: 47301135402279
Coding: 108001
Shop #: WSC 00793 648 00255
ASAM Dataset: EV_VW250ParkaIssis2 S01008
ROD: N/A
VCID: 3E72B35CA1A351B415-806A

No ASAM data for: "EV_VW250ParkaIssis2" (VW25)
No fault code found.
The one on the Jetta seems to be a better one. Logically, it should work.

Will be grateful if some member can throw some light on why it is not working, or what can I do to get it going, say through VCDS coding.

I cannot remember now, but what I do remember is that there are two wires missing which go to the bcm. Can + and -. This along with the change to the bcm is what enabled mine to work

Hi all I recently got an RCD 330+ head unit the version without car play for my 2011 polo (a model without steering controls)

I also bought this canbus adapter ( thanks a lot @prince85) but I am unsure where the two orange wires labelled canbus + and canbus - go if someone could help me out with a wiring diagram or even just tell me into which connectors these wires go it would be great. I visited a few local shops in Bombay but they don't seem to have any idea how to make it work.
Thanks!

Re: VW Polo/Vento : Replaced stock RCD320 with RCD330 Plus + rear view camera installation guide

I Have a December 2014 Vento 1.6 TDI Highline. The Car is 3.5 years old but is hardly used and almost new like. very well maintained to say. So want to change the factory supplied head unit and speakers to something good. but since its a 3 years old car so want to spend much. so I'm thinking maybe 20-25k for the head unit would be fine.

My requirements are as below:

1) Good Sound quality. this is a must as I am sort of an audiophile and don't want any good show but no go kinda audio unit. infact this is the reason I didn't go for the Blaupunkt unit they offer at dealership. because I heard that the sound quality on that is average. then thought about dynavin but it was a bit expensive and had some navigation issue too I think.

2) Navigation. would be great if it has google maps loaded or can screen it from iphone.

3) Apple car play and Android play or whatever is the term for android
(never used a android phone till date. been using Apple since years now. switched after Blackberry)

4) Touchscreen with reverse parking cam facility.

5) Airplay/Bluetooth etc.

and also would like to know what good speakers would match with the unit. I am not keen for a subwoofer. so would prefer decent bass and output without it.

So would request all experts to kindly guide me to decide on a good system. Thank you

Should have read this sooner! I opened up the centre console of my Jetta today and found out that the RCD300 Plus which comes with the CL is indeed connected by a Quadlock connector. Hopefully the new RCD330 Plus 187E which I have ordered should be a straight plug and play.

I have one question though; how does one remove the Quadlock connector? I tried a lot but the connector refuses to budge.

My friend was on the lookout for an Android Auto HU for his 2011 Vento HL.

The stock HU is RCD 310. We have located a seller in Delhi who is offering RCD 340G for 15k.

RCD 340G comes with Android Auto, apple car play and mirror link. He also offers a reverse cam (installed on the rear number plate light) for 2k.

We plan to get both the RCD 340 and the camera.

What's the take of the community on the same?
