Hi,

I just bought a Tata Indica GLS. The color is Jazz Blue. This is a new color, I have not seen any this color anywhere else onroad.

I want a Deck for my car now. Looking at the Shops around Milan Subway (Santacruz (W), Mumbai) . I dont know much about woofers and sub-woofers and other audio jargon. I just want a 'good' deck with Cassette player FM Radio (91.6 Red FM rocks !!). The speakers should 'sound good'. Sorry I am not a techie on audio so my requirements sound very dumb.

Any xperts willing to give me any suggestions / recommendations??

Thanks a lot.

Okay..

I looked at this <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">http://www.team-bhp.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=8;t=806[/quote] Thread and got some insight.

Thanks Rudra Sen, Rehaan and GTO for unconsiously answering some of my queries in the thread above.

Soooo, in a nutshell,

1) I will require a MDF board as speaker platform (makes the acoustics sound better). So I need to look for a speaker system which has MDF board.

2) I can get a 'decent' 'head unit' aka deck for between 3K and 9K. few names thrown around were Sony and Pioneer (PIONEER DEH-P4650MP, ditto 5550, ditto 4500)

3) when looking at amps/head units, its the RMS wattage that is the true indication of how loud it is. (quoted from Rehaans response on the above thread.

Now If only someone can tell me whcih audio system will suit my Indigo..

It all depends on what your budget is. If you can be more specific, I can help you out.

For the head unit, go for an entry - level Pioneer MP3 player...or something just above that. Invest more in the speakers and quality of wiring.

Thanks for the quick response guys.

Well, my budget would be about 10K. Also I am quite picky about getting a guarantee / warranty on what I buy.. don't really know if it is of much use though, but gives me some mental satisfaction. Of course if there are some recommended shops which are known to give 'quality' maal then I guess I can compromise on the guarantee / warranty.

BTW, do you know of any particular shop around the Milan Subway area at Santacruz West? There are many Car Audio shops, but I am confused who I should go to.

Hey Navin,
My Dad used to have Blaupunkt (factory fitted) in his Merc. But that was ages ago. Alpine I've seen in friends BMW (also factory fitted). Ya so I guess quality is good. But will it fit my budget of 10 K?

ok, so basically I guess I have the budget for maybe a entry-level Pioneer plus some fairly decent speakers. Which are.. ?

Oh, one more thing. The deck should absolutely have Cassette player. CD player is a plus though not essential. Also FM and AM.

I'm not into sound systems but i've always found Pioneer to the best as far as car decks go.

My Wagon R has one and it sounds great. However, the alpine on my Vtec does a better job when listening to hard rock.

Regards...

hey man..

Well today only i got myself a new system..like u even i'd a budget of 10k which i extended to 11800 since i was looking for an mp3 receiver..since u r looking for a cassette receiver it'd be even cheaper..my head unit 5650 for Rs 8400 &amp; 6990 speakers for Rs 3100. For a casette receiver u could go for 6025 which should be around 5000 bucks..u could go in for speakers with less wattage if u want but that'd make 200-300 Rs difference only. If u want a trunk mounted cd changer it'd be around Rs 5-5500.

Also i think rates would be similar to what i quoted at opera house &amp; slightly expensive at milan subway area...anyway i hope this should help you..happy shopping!

i don't remember exact numbers but i think pioneer cassette receiver will be best for its value. It comes in 2 types one is little display and one with large display cover which has to be opened to take out cassette. I think you should go for this one. also, check out pioneer Singapore web site for models available in Asia.
