hi,
let the 444w sony amp run your ovals, buy a really good amp, for about 8-10,000 and use that to power the sub, but put the sub ina calculated box, this is very important, you can double the performance just by putting the right box in the car, dont need to do any moe than that, trust me your eyes will pop out,

go see if you can buy an amp of a brand called "Audiobahn", very good stuff,

let me know what woofer you got i'll see if i can give you box specs,

Try this site:

http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/

You will find answers to most of your questions.

The site mentions that for sub woofer you would need a mono amplifier as mono amp reproduces low frequencies better.

i'm going to presume you have a pioneer 303FC sub. its a free air sub, which means it doesnt need any box, but a box size of 1.5cubic feet will be perfect.
box specs:
height:1foot
length:1foot
breadth:1.5foot
make a port on the top which has a diameter of 3inches& shove a pvs plastic pipe into it which is 6inches long, trust me you'll get blown away,

Quite heart vibrating.

As far the the newbies, dont read this advice it's all crap. I mean no offense ofcourse. I just revived this for the active ICE members to see and appreciate the level of discussion today.

The highest bass deck is the one which is in installed in the top floor of the Sears Tower in Chicago. There were some Malaysians trying to outdo this feat at the Petronas, but they had trouble scaling the two rod like structures atop where the last habitable floor ends.

Uh, hope this helped.
