Re: Android Auto update for owners of Maruti's older SmartPlay Infotainment System

Contacted my SA; expectedly he feigned ignorance. I've sent him screenshots and the procedure and he has said he will get back to me. He specifically asked me which dealer did the update and obviously I have no clue, so could not tell him.

People here have posted it is version 1740 of the SW update - is that 100% accurate?

Re: Android Auto update for owners of Maruti's older SmartPlay Infotainment System

I went to Maruti service centre saying that the HU is not working properly . As expected they did the update and it was not 1740 version which has Android auto. They were clueless regarding it

Re: Android Auto update for owners of Maruti's older SmartPlay Infotainment System

Strange are Maruti's ways!

I own a S-Cross - 1.3 Alpha. I just called the NEXA helpline on 1800-102-NEXA (as listed at http://www.nexaexperience.com) asking for confirmation of media reports about the availability of the Android Auto based update for my vehicle variant. Lo and behold - the NEXA helpline agent confirmed it! In-fact he offered to help me locate the "nearest service center" I could go to, for the update. I do plan to head out tomorrow to confirm the confirmation! :-)

But I just cannot, for the life of me, understand the inconsistency from Maruti! (yes on phone, no on mail).

Re: Android Auto update for owners of Maruti's older SmartPlay Infotainment System

I am very skeptical about all the media hype. A few of the websites give credit to team-bhp for this news.

If you read all the rest of the news updates, you can see the same wording and the same pattern. You can even see a mention of a 2.5GB update. OP has clearly mentioned that the 2.5GB update is for the maps. Most of the media houses are mentioning that the software update is of 2.5 GB size.

Look at these -

Thanks to Rajat Gupta of Vitara Brezza FB Club

He has got the Android auto update done on his Brezza. Maruti is not doing it officially. But they have got the firmware for Ignis / New Dzire and it is being done unofficially. Also the update is not stable. It keeps failing couple of times.

Re: Android Auto update for owners of Maruti's older SmartPlay Infotainment System

Visited a Maruti Service Centre yesterday evening and they are saying the same. No official communication from Nexa. They saw my t-bhpian sticker and admitted that they get to know info from team bhp first and then Nexa.
Anyways the guy I spoke to claimed they don't even have the firmware with Android Auto which goes into Ignis and New Dzire. The official pendrive with this software is yet to reach them.
Will keep a tab since I badly need this update too.

Re: Android Auto update for owners of Maruti's older SmartPlay Infotainment System

My S-Cross was left with the workshop earlier today and I had provided the SA everything from the Software Number (1470) to the link on where to download it. Just got a call that they only have version 750 and that's about it. It was due for a 6 month service anyway, so they called me in. I have given a piece of mind to the SA.

From the official review thread, it seems that the update fails even if you have not tinkered with the system. So looks like Maruti genuinely needs to fix the issue with the update. Or is it designed that way to fail for first few times before it works perfectly!!

Yes, I have seen many posts in FB. Maruti is not doing it officially. Whoever has got it done have had failure during flash for the first time.
