Well actually I kind of gave her a hint. :-)
She asked me what I wanted for a present. So I said wiring kit.

Well she couldn't understand why normal wires wouldn't work.
So after some explaining I got them after a few days. Hehehe

I'm still planning to use them on the Scorpio. (just to make her happy)

Cheers....

800 RMS would be too much for your sub... since your sub is only 200 RMS.... And since this is a DVC, per voice coil rating would be something like 100RMS....

so 800RMS amp is not recommended....

My GF doesn't complain much about me and my car.
But she goes haywire if it comes to ME and my Computer.

BTW
I'm not using the VRS 10 anymore.(maybe next year as a second SUB)

My friend lost his mobile the other day and he needs some cash to get a new one.
So, he is willing to part with his Blaupunkt VRB 10 with a sony 222 (triple 2 - I think) for 6k. I'll be getting the VRB 10 tomorrow.
Will post pics when I have it with me.

Ooohhh I can hardly wait.

Cheers....

I had this sub previously on my old 800. 2 of em connected to a 4 way amp of pioneer. really good, i even had velocti component rear and also about 6 inch small subs. (the pad tore after a yr).

These are really good sub. i had the Infinite Baffle set-up done by the bluapunkt shop owner itself. Very well done.

It is a good deal yes. But sorry to say this, but the 222 is well a supremely underpowered amplifier and will not drive any subwoofer that well.

True, True.
But he won't sell the VRB 10 without the Triple 2. (Don't ask me why)
I'm still planning to get the JBL 75.4.

Should I use the Sony 222 to drive the Rear or just leave that to the HU?
BTW, I'm using a Pioneer P1Y HU.

Going now to get my Sub.
Will post pics as soon as I can.

Puia.

Wellll... if you're getting it, you might as well use it. :-)

Use it for the rears. Let the 75.4 power the fronts and the sub. Or you can go crazy and use all of the 75.4 to power the sub (in a sealed enclosure) and use the 222 for the fronts. You would get killer bass :-)
And once the novelty wears off, you can use the 75.4 for the fronts and sub, and the 22 for the rears.

Hey, I can't understand how can he used the entire 75.4 into a single sub ?

the 75.4 can be configured to drive a DVC (Dual Voice Coil) sub. I am not sure if the VRB 10 is a DVC though.

I think the sub is a DVC (From the pics posted, we can see two sets of connectors (if you can call them that) on two sides of the magnet for each coil). That's why I said all of the 75.4 could drive it.

It will be overpowering it a tad, though. But in a sealed enclosure, with the gains set safely, there should be no problem.

Guys Sorry for the late reply.
Drove around testing the Sub last night.

Anyway here are the PIcs of the VRB 10. (Looks a bit worn but it's still in pretty good shape.)

Sorry for the bad pics. I don't have a digi cam so had to use the Camera on the Cell.

Can anyone enlighten me about wiring the Sub in Series or Parallel?

Thanks,
Puia.

Hey, this is different from the sub you'd shown in the first post. This is a bandpass sub. I think Speedzak had the same thing but with a 12" driver in his Alto. You did mention VRB10 in an earlier post (#23) but I just assumed it was a typo and you meant the VRS10 you mentioned in your first post. :-)

I wouldn't recommend overdriving this sub. You won't get to know whether the sub is being pushed beyond its limits or not, as the actual driver is in the box and its ummm... sounds of protest may not be immediately apparent. Best to use just 2 channels of the GTO 75.4 (bridged) to drive this sub.

Since all you need to do is to connect the speaker cable (from the amp) to the sub-box's input connectors, you don't need to bother about series wiring or parallel wiring.

Rightly said. Don't overpower this sub. Blaupunkt had to stop production of this line up because of many going kaput it seems.

My VXB12 Bandpass is connected to Alpine 605 monoblock. The output level is kept very low at the amplifier. Even then on high volumes and heavy bass, the sub gets very hot. The burning smell can be felt inside the cabin. One of my friends had twice replaced a similar one after it was fried twice.

This sub produces heavy, nice bass. A bit lumpy though. If tuned properly, this can give you satisfying sound. Just don't play it over the limits.
