Basic ICE setup for Santro Xing

Hi guys,

I am a newbie to team-bhp.I got my new Santro Xing recently and need your help for a very basic ICE setup. My budget is 12~15K for the HU+Front Spk+Rear Spk.
I dont want to add Amp or a Woofer as i need a very basic ICE.I had initially planned to use the enclosures provided in the rear for speakers, but after the reading the forums of team-bhp i realised that it may not give good SQ..so will have to go for MDF tray in rear i guess..But for the front i would like to use the enclosures provided and do not want to tamper with the doors etc.
Please suggest a good HU+speaker+cables etc. and a reliable place in mumbai where i can get them fitted.(as i do not want to do the cutting -shutting of the existing cables etc.)

Mods,I searched in the many threads for Santro Xing but they talk about the setup including woofer and amp and installtion of speakers in the front doors.Hence i didnt get much out of it.But i got a hang of the lingo used here.. Hence posting a new thread.

Thanks in advance.

some days back some ICE mods (forget whom) had a few shots of JD (hic) and penned a short essay on systems from 10K to 30K. Funny guy, he even made it a sticky; but it seems that no one reads stickys these days so here goes nothing...

If you got 15K I'd spend half of that on a good HU from Sony, Pioneer or Blaupunkt. The other half on 2 pairs of 4-5" coax spekaers from JBL or other speaker specialist brand. (no Sony speakers please).

Welcome to Team BHP, sameer. the words "sameer" & "great" in the same name remind me of one of our venerable members who regularly roams the ICE section (usually in shorts), but seems to be missing for the last few days :-)

Navin is giving you a gentle nudge towards this thread: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/car-en...k-25k-30k.html

He's got you covered already with his post anyway :-)

You can choose between 4" and 5.25" co-axials for the front (in dash vs. in the door). And 6x9" coaxials on an MDF plank for the rear.

Approx. 2750/- for one pair of 4" if you go for JBLGTO427s or 3250/-for one pair of 5.25" if you go for JBL GTO527s. The 6x9s will run to 5000/-if you go for JBL GTO937s. Another Option for speakers will be the Hertz DSK series. They will run to about 1.5K to 2K more in total, but will be worth the additional price. But listen to both before you decide. The MDF plank will run to about 700/- to 800/-.

navin, i think there are too many stickys in ICE. that could be one reason why importance is lost.

I will consider this when I get back right now I am in holland and using a GSM PCMCIA card to connect. The service is slow (compared to my E1 in Mumbai) and expensive.

Hey Sameer,

What u decided looks good for your budget. Coz I also got the same in my Santro. Go for HU - Pioneer 6850 its very good. Front I have got JBL GTO427 and rear I had plan of JBL GTO937 but then I got Infinity Reference 9613I speakers. Realy iIts an ausome speakers. I got it for Rs.4400 in gray market. With this u need not to go for an amp or sub.

Well, if you already have decided to buy JBL and if you want help with locating an authorised dealer, you can call Firoz on 9819850106 and he will help you.
