Other brands (by no means an exhaustive list) that could be compared with Dynaudio are Focal, Morel, (Scanspeak if you can roll your own XO) and maybe Hertz Mille (not heard them yet) and also maybe Infinity Perfect. Of these I would suspect Morel will sound a bit similar to Dynaudio, while Focal should be a bit more forward/detailed with Scanspeak falling somewhere between the Dynaudio and Focal.

JKD ...It is a 3 way set up......

I got the speakers done...( they are in DA house )
Amp almost decided..( will have to rack Gunmans/JB brains a bit more for that )...

Rest remains :(-- want soem inputs for this )...

1. RCA ( HU to amp ) -- currently have connection audison..
2. Speaker cable.... currently have connection audison...

So an upgrade on the RCA/Speaker cable.. I dont know if I should a further upgrade or not..... if i do what choices do i have?

The overall config still remains the same .. passive 3 way fronts + a single sub ( sub is still the good ol IDQ 10 )..

The New speakers going in are :
The Rainbow CS365 Profi Vanadium Kicks:

rainbow - german car audio

They comprise of the:
  • W165 Profi Vanadium Kick Midbass
  • MR100 Profi Vanadium Midrange
  • CAL 26 Titan VOF Silk Dome tweets.
Im debating on the amps so far:
Probably soemthign from the Audison suite... ( will want to buy one form India as warranty is critical due to the many electrnics involved here )...

HU is still the kenwood KCD-001 ( giving me a cool 24bits with the Twin Burr Browns ) -ALthough was tempted for an upgrade here too..

I had a listen in and audition period of almost 6 mths ..before I finally decided on the speakers....
What were the deciding factors and what /how/where I auditioned is another thread altogether..... which I hope to compile an share with everyine here sometime soon..will need the help of a good novelist for that.. ..the whole process was an unforgettable experience for me....

sk, is this new speaker set going in your Santro? Or have you upgraded the car also?

And I really think you should try and mount all three drivers in the same plane on both sides.

Sir how did you manage to audition the speakers ? and which other model did you listened to? Also what was selecting criteria ? Also what is the damage to the pocket ?

So many questions hope you can answer them....

Car is still the same.... Well the instalation is JB's department...
Im a bt doubtful if thats pssible in a xing... because :
it s a ****ty car to ICE ( because of very little space in the doors )...
Morover, the kickmidbass is gonna be a bitch to install...

Am exploring the idea of a kick install for the midrange and tweet...

The Vanadiums I heard were in an all rainbow car powered by a pair of Pauls..with a single Vanadium Sub and a Nakamichi CD500 HU...It was priceless...

Some of the ohter combos i heard>>>

1.Rainbow reference with Sinfoni amplification with HXD2 HU -- the finest set up i heard.. too bad im not that rich...

2. Focal Berilium Utopia Kit 7 powered by the Focal Dual monitor amps and a Focal Sub...here again there was a HX d2 as a source.... was sweet....

3.The other amazing install was a Sony midbass...rainbow cal 27 tweets... and a diamond audio sub of an Alpine HU...and i thinkan old 2 nd hand alpine amp.... the most mindblowing install i heard..I cudnt beleive the sq of this set up..considering the cost as compared to the other heavy weights...which proves $$$ are not everything...its te install and tuning which is 80% of the battle....

Incedently none of the cars I have writen about are demo cars...and msot have been hand installed by the owners themselves... Cars and car audio are a very passionate hobby in australia..where peope spend a large chunk of thee incomes doing up there cars....
