Congrats. I have the same model.

Can you please test it in your head unit if it resets the date/time?

Thanks.
Buddy I can see that you changed your boot logo. Can you please tell me the procedure on how to change it?

Thanks,
Sivbal.

If you don't see logos in your head unit, send me a PM, I will send you logo files.

You can even make a customized boot logo with your car picture, brand logo and even registration number if you want.

Thanks. I can see the video now. The time did reset (00:53). But it updated the time instantly from GPS.

So, this is standard for Android T5 Head Units. It can also be seen in the above two YouTube videos I posted for boot logo.

No more tests required. Thank you so much.

Re: The Android Head-Unit buying guide

I'm looking for a 9" or larger Android Head Unit with the following features:
  1. No lags, so a 4GB RAM spec is preferred
  2. WiFi, Bluetooth, SIM connectivity
  3. GPS
  4. TPMS, DVR, reverse sensor, 360° Camera support
  5. 100% working Steering Wheel Control
  6. Climate control/cruise control compatibility preferred
  7. Ability to make and receive calls with good clarity
  8. 2 USB Ports
  9. I'm not an audiophile, so not very particular about specs related to music
  10. Unit must be reliable; preferably last the vehicle's lifetime
Installer recommended Geesonic. An online search showed Woodman and Hypersonic. I contacted 2 numbers of Hypersonic people, and one of their Distributors in Chennai, and asked for their product brochures/features/specs multiple times. None of them provided any info. They only sent a couple of pictures of the Unit installed in different cars. Woodman guy was very very helpful. He answered all my questions, and replied to my messages even during the night.

Can anyone using any of the above brands give me your valuable (long-term) feedback? Is there any other reliable brand that you've been using, and that fulfills my requirements? The underlined requirements are mandatory.

Have put it as boot logo and it looks awesome (to me at least) in full screen when HU boots.

I would recommend not to use this "Power off after ACC off" option unless this would gracefully shutdown android OS. otherwise this may gradually corrupt the system partition and in-turn corrupt android OS. If you are not going to take the car for long time you may go for shut down after 24/44 hours. That way you may reduce number of hard shutdowns.

Else can you please confirm me from your sources that "Power off after ACC off" option will shutdown android OS in the head-unit gracefully?

Thanks,
Sivbal

Re: The Android Head-Unit buying guide

Yes, I did. Got myself a Sony AX5500.

Only issue with it - It powers on whenever I turn on the ignition even though it was switched off manually previously
This is annoying. OEM Head unit had a button to switch on/off the stereo.

Won't it cause transient load on the head unit?
Does anyone know how to keep it turned off until I choose to power it on?
Or is it the case with most of these Android HUs coming now?

I don't see this option in my bbt-401? Was it available by default for you or had to do something (like upgrade etc.)?

You have to enter password 20146699 (or 16176699 depending on firmware) then you will see all the options.

If you enter password 2014 (or 1617), only few options are visible.

Using Woodman Xtreme 3.0 for more than 4 months now. Quick summary based on my experience so far:

- UI is faster than other Android HUs with similar specs
- Steering wheel controls work good. No issues seen.
- Audio output is good. However at higher levels it is distorted. I usually don't listen to audio at such high levels, so it is not a deal breaker for me.
- Maps takes a bit of time to load, still faster than other Android HUs with similar specs. For me this was the key deciding factor.
- For minor niggles and clarifications their customer care has been really fast to address all the queries

Hope this helps in your decision.
