Bose jumps into the after market arena

I know some of you will cringe, but its news nonetheless. Bose is getting into the aftermarket head unit business. Will be factory fitted in some cars (starting with the Ferrari 612) and later available as a separate product.

Innovations - Bose Automotive Systems Division

cheers.

The pricing alone is likely to put people off. The aftermarket accessories buyers are quite conscious about VFM. Its going to be tough.

I see Bose HU's can work only in high-end cars. And, its cost will be embedded in final price of the car

Yes, they were one of teh first to make systems for specific cars using stuies of psychoacoustics and the car's interiors. They had first teamed up with GM and Delco Electronics. That was about 25 years ago.

Since I have listened to Bose for long (Acura TL, Miata). They have lows, mids and highs and they were still Bose. However, the home theater I had did lack the mid frequencies and had to go for infinity speakers. They are not that bad with the given form factor (in fact they good for that kind of form factor).

The GM-Delco-Bose car systems for their time/era were not too bad.

Comparing them to the Harman Kardon which come in the new BMW's. Both are optional audio upgrade for $2200

Their speakers might sound like $hit, but the HU sure looks juicy to me. And its features aren't too bad either. Proximity sensor and all.

BOSE Speakers

Guys, does anyone know where I can get BOSE speakers for my 2010 Honda City preferrably in Chennai or Bangalore?
Also, I want to replace the existing stock speakers with BOSE ones without having to do any cutting of the door panel i.e. The speakers should be within the door panel so the car doesn't look like it's been modded in any way. Anyone know where I can get a job like this done in Chennai?

Re: BOSE Speakers

In Chennai you can try at Ispahani Centre, thats where the BOSE Showroom was (Till I remember). They will give you an idea of what is to be done next.

From Gemini towards Nungambakkam past the IOC corp. Next to Vaishnav College for Women.

Re: BOSE Speakers

As far as i know, you cannot buy speaker off the shelf and they have a very limited range when it comes to ICE(lexus and one more i do not remember)

and you are in the wrong section(this should be posted in the ICE section)
