I believe the 301.1 costs about 12K. With a budgt of 15K for sub and amp there is not much left for the sub. the 6100 costs about 7K (albeit without B&W) and leaves 8K for the subs and wires.

The only other alternate I could think of was using a 300.1 (not 301.1) with a JBL tube but that will coost almost 17K without wires.

Wires budget is not included in 15K. There is around 1500 - 2000 Rs budget for wire and he can shell like 2k more. So you can take a total of 19 - 20K for SUB, AMP and Wires.

You say it is a waste of money & in the same breath you want to sell it to someone here ? Think again.

A 300.1 and a tube may not produce the same level of BOOM as the Pio combo but the bass will be more listenable. The 306C sub is strictly one note bass. Also the 6100 bridged at 150-200W is just about adequate for a 306C but a 300.1 and JBL tube are far better matched.

The tube in the link is the one I was thinking of. The 300.1 amp costs about 10.5K. So this combo will cost you 17K add wires and intall for 2.5K and you are just making the 19-20K budget.

However given the updated budget one more option comes to mind. Why not use the 2 x Pio 306C (8K) with a Pio D510M amp (10K) and have 2K for wires. That will BOOM like crazy as the amp will be driving a 2 ohm load!

Do you feel it is that bad. Remember it costs only 7K and other than the Sony 554/504 there is no 4ch. amp that is in that price range (other than the Chinese stuff).

yes sir, the perception is entirely mine, based on my experiences. i tested 3 different 6100s running 2 Pio 306 SVC off channel 1 & 2 in bridged mode. (4 ohms) after reading much about ICE, here at TBHP. To my surprise, each of the pio 6100 clipped at high volumes. (even if i set the gain as per my local guru read Gunman guidelines in one of the posts.) 6100 was OK for speakers, but not at all for 306.
Considering money already spent, I decided to retain it (which am using), somehow I feel that my JBLs feel underpowered by 6100 (or may be the speakers sound gets lost in the bass) and hence i'm thinking to upgrade to JBL 75.4 to get a more balanced output. I auditioned JBL 75.4 II with my existing set up in my car and WOW! thats excatly i was looking forward to.

Hey this is news. I had not testted the 6100 with the 306C so was going strictly by the printed specs. I guess I was wrong.

This also means that the JBL 300.1 might be a better option in this case althogh it cost about 3K more.

I was always just about to suggest this combo and since the listener wants only "BOOM" it seems like the most appropriate option!!

For the JBL 300.1 to be better than the Pioneer 6100, the sub better be a DVC.

Well i still had to go and check the local prices. Will do this Saturday. I think 8K for 2 subs is for 306 SVC ?

the options also include driving to SVC subs (Pio 306C) which amp (6100 or 300.1) will do a better job with that load?
