Another M800 Audio query

A friend needs to get a Sub + Amp + 2 speakers (i am pushing him for 4) installed in his M800. He has already zeroed on JVC DVD HU.

Now speakers most probably either JVC or JBL (J = Jinga lala)

Now this comes down to just 2 things which AMP and which SUB.

Now the budget is around 15K for SUB and AMP. maybe 2K here or there... This does not include wiring kit. Wiring kit will most probably be MONSTER or JBL if we can get our hands on it.

The requirements are just "BOOM".. He just needs to boom boom and more boom.

Now i am recommending him to go for JBL but he more inclined towards Pioneer basic sub that 306 one. So which sub to go for BOOM pio or JBL and which AMP (no compromise here i will force him to get the JBL)... I am even telling him to go for 2 CH amp for speakers.

So which sub and amp at what prices please ?

Need to get this done within next 2 weeks coz i have my EXAMS in April

option a)
Get a 4 ch. amp for 7K (Pio 6100) and a JBL tube for 6.5K. Use 2 ch. for sub and 2 for front speakers.

option b)
Get 2 Pio 306C in boxes for 8K and use the same Pio 6100 to drive both subs but does he have room for a 2.5 cu ft box in his car.

Since he is looking for BOOM in an 800 there is no need to spend money on damping all the undamped vibrations will add to the din.

I think this option will make him more happy. More subs and more BOOM!!
He can also make 2 small boxes instead of making one big box.

I would also suggest the pioneer amp over the JBL & the JBL tube over the pioneer 306 (if it can fit).

i tend to disagree here, pio 6100 cant play the pio 306s to the fullest. since the requirement is only boom....better option would be JBL (though on a higher side in $)

From what I remember both amps are about 60W x 4 ohms at 14.4V and about 200W at 4 ohms bridged at 14.4V. In the real world (13.5V) these amps should put out about 150W at 4ohm bridged. Neither will drive a Pio 306C or JBL GT4-12 or JBL tube to it's fullest. Both will make enough noise to make the cabin an uncomfortable place.

With opion b) 2 Pio subs will have a 6db gain in sensitivy over 1 Pio sub this is akin to having 4 times more power so everyone can hear "BOOM Machade".

Navin, that was a fantastic and clear-cut explanation. Go with Option B Abhibh.

6100 does not have enough juice (read: current drive) to drive 2 pioneer 306 woofers. I have real world experience on this particualr case. I would not suggest 2 woofers in parallel on the pioneer 6100 amp. It will lead to clipping, overheating and possible damage (As pioneer protection circuits are designed to be less sensitive)

no no no...

I was looking at driving 2 306C with 1 6100. The 6100 is a 65x4 ch. amp. bridging 4 ch. to make 2 would make it a 150-200Wx2 ch. amp. Now you can drive one 4 ohms speaker with each bridged channel. cant ya?

navin sir, i was suggesting a JBL 301.1 mono.... it drives JBL bass tube + Premier 126 C like crazy in my car. i too have 6100 in my car which i'm using to drive JBL front comps + JBL 937....again a subjective issue and your ears are best judge, but am planning to upgrade to JBL 75.4. IMHO, 6100 is a sheer waste of money and am planning to dispose it off. (dont stare at me if i appear LBM now!)

PM me please if anybody is interetsed in buying pio 6100

This would be a good combination. 301.1 to drive Sub, 75.4 to drive front comp and Rear cox(Gurus suggested this for my Baleno)

I believe the 301.1 costs almost as much as 2 Pio 6100s. I think abibh had a budget of 15K for a sub and amp.

301.1 can't fit in easily into the given budget.
It can be kept cheaper for now by going in for a Pio 6100.
