Yes, no issues if its clean un-clipped power.

Umm, I think it would depend on the standard used for rating the speaker's power. If the 50W rms rating is achieved when power testing the speaker across the entire bandwidth, then you can give it 60 W rms if you are using a high pass filter to eleminate some lows, which is common for speakers in car audio. Otherwise 60 W rms will surely fry it.

That said, I assume you mean that you want to drive a 50W speaker off a 60 watt amp, in which case, you will mostly never be putting the full 60 watts into the speaker continuously, so practically, that is a safe scenario.

also I think the speaker which are rated 50 watts with some HPF included in it....like B&T said if we put full range 60 watts rms in a 50 watts speaker they are bound to get damage to some extents when some serious bass notes will hit....

Sorry for the delay guys. Was busy attending a wedding today and eating lots of Mutton Biriyani.

There's no specific reason to ask my question. It came up while doing this setup.
HERTZ DSK130 is rated 55W Rms. The 4channel amp I am using for this setup is rated @ 55W RMS (not max power, it is 110W @ 4ohms). When somebody saw these calculations, made a comment that amp would've burnt the speakers if it was rated below 55W.

I thought it's better to discuss here. Not off topic! Something that may affect my install. Ain't it?

I don't think he has yet seen the ICED car -- he's still out of town (till tomorrow). After tomorrow, I'll start bugging you too, Zak.

Correctly said. The car has been waiting for it's crazy, mad and insane owner for the last 2 days.

Guys, there was a wedding followed by a funeral. And I was quiet busy with all these and I'm yet to see the install finished.

TOMORROW!! Yes, no going back! I promise.
Some more surprises on store too. !!!

How come you get to eat so much and STILL manage to look like you've returned from Somalia?
