Damn, a good install makes a difference!! My OHC Vtec ICED again

I already had a decent Pioneer system (944 amp, 12” sub, 4 speakers + two tweeters) but unfortunately, it wasn’t installed well. When I wanted to get a good install, who else but our audio guru Navin steps into the picture and offers to share his expertise. Admittedly, I love “disco” sound. When Navin asked me about the sound setup I wanted, I just said one word : “night-club”. High on bass and treble but low on mid-range is my kind. Unfortunately, my system was so terribly installed 3 years back that it sounded more like a dancebar than a nightclub.

Navin took me to the excellent team at Bharat Auto (Worli). I was pleasantly surprised to meet with Leela; a lady who is more than well-versed with her ICE stuff. Leela again asked me what kind of sound I was looking for, and I explained to her in depth the kind of music I listen to, and why I am not happy with the current set-up. This was a 4:30 p.m. and she assured me that the car would be ready by 7:30 p.m. Among other things, certain wires, amplifier position (from under the front seat to the trunk) and front speakers would be changed. I think Navin asked for monster cables also.

With my excitement, I got there at 7:00 and thought I will be seeing the final stages of the install (remember, I was 30 minutes early). Well, well well….the car was ready! (Actually it was cleant and ready). I jumped in and pumped the volume up; man I finally had my disco sound. The bass was hard and thumbing just as I asked for, and still...the system boasts of a nice balance all around. All my cars so far have had a rear-sound bias but Navin has changed the setup (and consequently my preference) with tuning up the fronts. I love it! The sound bias now is very neutral and all kinds of music sound great on it. Prior to the install, it was a 4 / 10. Now its atleast twice as good.

I recently transferred all my music to the iPod and thus, CDs have become an irrelevant commodity. It took my audio guy about three weeks to tell me he cant source the iPod cable. Navin steps in again and finds me the right Pioneer cable in the same week! I love the way that the iPod is integrated with the HU; I can not only control it from the HU but it also charges while playing. Its tucked away conveniently in the glove box.

I highly recommend Bharat Auto for anyone who is looking at a clean professional audio install. And at a very value-driving price. Leela and Mr. Gandhi have delivered an exemplary level of service. This also taught me the value of a high-quality install.

Thanks Navin for all your help!

GTO, what new equipment did you add to your old setup? I ask because the HU looks from the new Pioneer series.

Congratulations on your setup.

Just what the doctor ordered.........just got back in the office after picking up my car from service. My system sounded great when I left the car there......BUT now after the service it sounds like a "PHATA HUA BAANS" The guy who fitted it has promised to come around & correct whatever mess the service guys have made. I am waiting for him to land up & fix the damn thing. It is SO TRUE that the install makes or breaks a perfectly good setup

Dust & dirt is a usual problem with an the under-the-front-seat install. Good thing it got moved to the boot.
