If it is the prong antenna, you can also do a jugaad by using a bent stiff copper or aluminium wire to hold it to the roof lining.
Yes, it is of the tyoe found in Indica's, the 'small antenna with 2 prongs sticking out'. Are they available outside? what is the alternative cure? Help please.

Errr... may I ask how bad a shape is it in? Unless one has done desi kushti with it, it is always reusable.

Try this:
* Clean the windscreen inside part (where it was stuck before) with spirit
* Stick one side of a large piece of double-sided tape to the antenna body
* Make sure the connecting wire is connected properly to the antenna
* Stick the other side of the DS tape in the place it was stuck earlier

Internal Car Antenna

I do not have an external antenna installed in my car. I am searching for antenna for my Linea but teh dealer says No stock and in outside also its not available. I have asked the dealer to order it for me couple of time but no result. So I am planning for an internal antenna.

Has anyone installed an internal antenna ? I know they fit it behind the rear view mirror. But my questions are:

1) Does the sound quality good in internal antenna?
2) I heard they use a wire to plug it into the system. Does that wire visible to outside and does that create any problem in viewing ?
3) Is there any good brand available ?
4) What is the price and any recommended store in pune ?

Thanks a lot in advance !!!

Re: Glass Antenna - Is it effective ?

1. Depends on signal strength, generally they are good
2. It is run inside the edge of the roof lining, down the A-pillar on the left side and into the center console cavity - not visible at all, nor does it obstruct vision
3. Never heard of any recognizable brand in such antennas

Re: Glass Antenna - Is it effective ?

good discussion... just one thing to add.. the shark fin antenna and the short-rod antenna usually have some small electronics attached with the antenna (the piece of wire). The electronics amplifies the signal before passing it onto the HU. The effect is that the HU sees increased signal strength.

How is this better than a simple dipole? Nothing in terms of reception at the antenna but much better at the HU as the signal losses when transmitting the signal from the antenna to the HU are compensated by the amplification.

And yes, some shark fins and the short rods also contain AM/FM antenna. They work on a 1/4-wavelength or sometimes even shorter principle
